Job Description

As a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE), you will lead the delivery of an Agentic AI platform, into complex, real-world enterprise environments across procurement, inventory, manufacturing, and logistics.

Senior FDEs are polyglot, mission-owning engineers and skilled generalists. In this role, you will own customer engagements end-to-end: from framing the problem and defining clear success criteria, to designing, building, and deploying production-grade systems that run at scale. You will work directly with customer stakeholders, independently lead Proof-of-Concepts (POCs) and production deployments, and exercise strong technical and architectural judgment in complex, ambiguous environments.

In this role, you will operate with high autonomy while collaborating closely with Platform Engineering and Product teams to influence the evolution. You will also mentor junior FDEs and set the technical bar for execution. This role is ideal for engineers who want deep ownership, real customer impact, and increasing strategic responsibility, and who are ready to operate as senior, mission-owning Forward Deployed Engineers.

1. Customer Ownership & Engagement

• Own customer engagements end-to-end, from initial scoping through production deployment.
• Lead customer discovery to deeply understand operational processes, systems, constraints, and success criteria.
• Translate business problems into clear technical approaches and execution plans.
• Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers during POCs and deployments.

2. Technical Leadership

• Independently scope, design, and deliver complex Proof-of-Concepts (POCs).
• Define clear objectives, success metrics, and scope boundaries for POCs and deployments.
• Serve as technical lead to enable customers from POC to production-ready implementations.
• Make pragmatic trade-offs to deliver value quickly while maintaining production-quality standards.

3. Data Integration & Engineering

• Design and implement robust data integrations with customer systems such as ERPs, VMSs, and internal platforms.
• Build reliable, maintainable data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and validation.
• Work directly with customer IT teams on authentication, access controls, and security considerations.
• Debug and resolve complex data and integration issues in production environments.

4. Agentic Workflow Design & Customisation

• Design and implement moderately to highly complex agentic workflows tailored to customer use cases.
• Configure and adapt engines and agents to meet domain-specific requirements.
• Guide fine-tuning or adaptation of existing agents for customer-specific tasks.
• Ensure agentic workflows are performant, reliable, and explainable to stakeholders.

5. Deployment & Operational Excellence

• Partner with Platform Engineering and DevOps teams to deploy and scale the Agentic AI platform environments.
• Lead performance tuning, reliability improvements, and post-deployment stabilisation.
• Own operational readiness, including monitoring, failure handling, and handover to customer teams where appropriate.

6. Product Engineering

• Identify recurring customer needs and patterns that should be addressed in the core Agentic AI platform product.
• Contribute production-quality code, configurations, or architectural improvements to the core platform.
• Mentor and support junior FDEs, reviewing designs and code, and sharing best practices.
• Actively contribute to internal knowledge sharing across the FDE and engineering teams.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, or related fields.
• 4–8 years of professional experience as a software engineer, data engineer, or related role.
• Strong track record of delivering production-grade systems in real-world environments.
• Deep understanding of software engineering fundamentals (design, testing, debugging, maintainability).
• Hands-on experience with APIs, databases, and data pipelines in production.
• Solid experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Proven ability to work directly with customers and stakeholders on complex technical problems.
• Comfortable operating independently in ambiguous, high-ownership environments.
• Strong understanding of AI-driven systems, including agentic workflows, LLM-based pipelines, or decision engines.
• • Experience leading POCs or deployments with enterprise customers.

Desired Skills

• Experience integrating complex enterprise systems (ERP, procurement, supply-chain, manufacturing platforms).
• Experience with containerisation (Docker) and infrastructure tooling (Terraform, CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions).
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex systems to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrated curiosity, strong ownership, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Interest in mentoring and raising the technical bar within a team.
