The Burgess Hotel, Atlanta, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel - a high-end boutique alternative to all the nearby classic luxury chains. Conveniently located in a coveted area minutes from the airport and downtown, we're close to local sights like the CNN Center, Georgia Aquarium, The World of Coca-Cola, Fern Bank Museum, Atlanta Zoo, Stone Mountain Park and Underground Atlanta.

Training plan:

  • Orientation (0,5 month): You will receive an orientation to the company and the local community which includes learning about our company’s customers, culture, business strategies, etc.; learn about payroll schedules and payroll tax withholding; local training area, housing options, apartment complexes, and transportation options; meet key contacts and other employees; receive computer training on company systems; receive an orientation to the local community including cultural centers, volunteer opportunities, local sporting events, and entertainment venues. Orientation is scheduled for up to one month and takes place concurrently with the first training phase.
  • Restaurant Host and Outlet Server (4,5 months): You will learn U.S. service standards, opening and closing duties, and department training process in various Food and Beverage outlets; learn to use point-of-sale computer system to record and track f&b items; learn to use various upselling techniques; learn to control guest checks and secure proper payment; learn U.S. standards for setup and service of meeting events; learn process for mise en place; learn gratuity distribution methods; learn the responsibilities of the host/greeter; learn procedures for providing a positive experience for guests; learn to maintain the quality standards and supervision of the outlet staff; learn to control the flow of work in the room by seating guests in station rotation while maintaining guest lists and following and enforcing check issue procedures; learn to assign opening and/or closing side duties; supervise side work and ensure completed lists of setups of all stations before departure of service staff; learn to process reservation book, take incoming telephone calls, note reservations and special requests by guests.
  • Front Desk Agent and Rooms Controller (2 months): You will learn the front desk computer system; check-in and check-out procedures; promoting the Marriot Bonvoy Guest Program; maintaining a house bank and making a deposit and accurate report of receipts daily; guest room assignment, and control; walk over procedures; hourly house counts; sell-out controls; room key controls; room up-selling techniques; resolve guest concerns. Learn and assist in operations as a rooms controller and learn about operations from behind the front desk; learn to ensure that all groups are keyed and checked in, and billing is noted in all reservations; learn to coordinate arrivals of groups.
  • Operations Supervisor (5 months): You will learn American methodologies for supervising F&B outlet staff; learn to monitor and supervise set up and maintenance of outlets to ensure that they meet standards; assist in the interaction with guests to ensure a positive guest experience; learn to ensure availability of staff, inventories, and equipment to ensure standards are met; learn the process of supervision and coaching of staff; assist with pre-shift meetings; learn process for scheduling team members based on business demands; assist in the completion of productivity reports and requisitions. You will learn to inspect guest rooms and public spaces in Housekeeping department to ensure compliance with all standards; assist in scheduling room, turndown, mini-bar, and linen; learn to supervise performance of all team members; produce schedules for employees following staffing guides/ productivity requirements; review and adjust staffing daily to ensure optimum staffing levels; review assignments of employees and make adjustments; manage administrative functions following established standards; evaluate, coach, counsel and provide leadership support.

Job Requirements

  • You have a hospitality degree from a post-secondary academic education with a minimum 2-year full-time course, approved by the Ministry of Education
  • Recent relevant work experience in the (ultra) luxury hotel industry

Or:

  • You have 5 years of recent relevant work experience in the (ultra) luxury hotel industry
