We are looking for a driven and experienced professional to fulfill the role of Practice Leader, Sustainability and Climate Change to grow our business in Malaysia and across Asia-Pacific. The successful candidate will be working in a global consultancy, working closely with our multidisciplinary team of consultants in Malaysia and across the ERE/Aurecon network in 9 countries.

This is a senior position. In addition to driving the sustainability/climate change business, the candidate is expected to be a thought leader in promoting sustainability and climate action amongst our stakeholders (clients, governments, etc.) in Malaysia and in Asia-Pacific via participation in market events/ conferences as well as networking with sustainability/climate experts across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Grow the s ustainability and climate change business by i dentifying and pursuing business opportunities with existing and new clients.

  • Keep up to date with regional market-specific developments and identify new service offerings to be developed or modified.

  • Work closely with our branding, marketing and communications team to develop service-specific promotional and marketing materials. Lead marketing and branding events, including conferences, exhibitions, etc.

  • Act as a technical advisor/leader for sustainability/climate consultancy projects for clients across a variety of sectors, focusing on low carbon economy transition, GHG emissions reduction actions and plans, climate risks strategies and net zero solutions, adaptation strategies, etc.

  • Be accountable for and manage all sustainability and climate change projects in Malaysia and in the region, at the identified project margin levels.

  • Provide technical guidance to project teams, ensure quality and timely delivery of project outputs to the client’s expectations.

  • Identify and nurture talents and build the sustainability/climate change team. Ensure ongoing career development, competencies, services and technologies within the team.

Job Requirements

  • Have at least 15 years of related experience with significant involvement in sustainability, ESG, climate change mitigation and/or adaptation.

  • Have a masters / bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, energy, business, finance, engineering, or a related field.

  • Have a good understand current trends and developments on climate change and sustainability including climate risk assessment, low carbon approaches, carbon markets, carbon offsets, carbon footprint measurement and reduction, circular economy, renewables, etc.

  • Have a good understanding of government and private sector’s climate priorities and ability to advise senior executives on sustainability and climate-related issues, risks, opportunities and strategies.

  • Have the ability to lead multiple consultancy projects and project teams while meeting deadlines and client’s expectations.

  • Have a commercial mindset and experience and the ability and appetite to grow a business by winning work (existing and new clients)

  • Have the fluency in English. Knowledge of one or more Asian languages will be an advantage.

  • Strong written, verbal communication and data presentation skills.

  • Experience in consultancy and industry accreditations will be advantageous.
