Role Overview

The design engineer plays a vital role within the engineering team, focusing on delivering engineering drawings and models that meet project requirements. This position necessitates a strong sense of urgency and responsiveness, ensuring that both new and ongoing projects receive timely and precise technical support. The ability to work effectively under pressure is essential for maintaining high standards and meeting deadlines.

Product Design (main)

• Work closely with project stakeholders to identify, interpret and define user requirements 
• Utilize CAD tools to generate or modify engineering drawings for jigs, fixtures, and assemblies in alignment with applications requirements
• Ensure designs meet fabrication methods, capabilties and finished products are functional as designed

Engineering Process Design

• Lead/Support manufacturing process optimization to achieve productivity targets

Research and Development

• Prepare regular reports on research on engineering and manufacturing technologies, as well as industry trends 
• Support product development and improvement initiatives

Design and Document Management

• Ensure all engineering works are well documented for operational compliance

Ad-hoc Support

• Render support to other operational needs when called upon

Job Requirements

CAD Proficiency

• Demonstrates proficiency in utilizing CAD tools (such as SolidWorks) to produce CAD drawings and models efficiently and accurately
• Knowledge or experience with AI-powered design programs (advantage) 

Strong Engineering Foundation

• Strong understanding of engineering materials and tools
• Knowledge or experience of high-tech manufacturing applications and processes

Analytical and Problem Solving

• Skilled in troubleshooting and failure analysis
• Strong passion for developing effective engineering solutions to technical challenges

Relevant Industrial Experience

• Prior experience in hard-disk drive manufacturing, semiconductor wafer fabrication, SMT, packaging test/burn-in, or aerospace fixture design 
• Equipment automation and integration
