Position Summary

The Service Crew is responsible for delivering warm, attentive, and efficient customer service to guests at Kay’s Steak & Lobster. This role ensures every guest enjoys a memorable dining experience by maintaining high service standards, strong product knowledge, cleanliness, and teamwork on the restaurant floor. Service Crew members are expected to represent the brand professionally, anticipate guest needs, and contribute to smooth day-to-day restaurant operations.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Service Excellence

  • Welcome and seat guests politely and professionally.
  • Present menus, explain menu items, promotions, and make suitable recommendations.
  • Take customer orders accurately and communicate clearly with the kitchen and bar.
  • Serve food and beverages promptly and according to service standards.
  • Check on guests during their dining experience to ensure satisfaction.
  • Handle guest requests, feedback, and minor complaints professionally, escalating when necessary.
  • Ensure each guest receives courteous, friendly, and efficient service at all times.

Operational Execution

  • Prepare the dining area before service, including table setup, cleanliness, and station readiness.
  • Ensure all tables, service stations, menus, and utensils are clean and properly arranged.
  • Follow standard operating procedures for opening, shift change, and closing duties.
  • Support smooth table turnover while maintaining service quality.
  • Coordinate with kitchen and other team members to ensure timely and accurate order delivery.
  • Assist in packing takeaway and delivery orders when required.

Product Knowledge

  • Maintain strong knowledge of Kay’s Steak & Lobster menu, ingredients, cooking styles, and promotions.
  • Explain dishes confidently to guests, including signature items, steak doneness, seafood selections, and add-ons.
  • Be able to answer basic guest questions about menu items and recommend upselling options appropriately.

Hygiene, Cleanliness & Safety

  • Maintain cleanliness of the dining floor, service stations, and work areas at all times.
  • Follow food safety, hygiene, grooming, and sanitation standards strictly.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and operational guidelines.
  • Report any hazards, breakages, or maintenance issues promptly.

Teamwork & Discipline

  • Work closely with fellow service crew, kitchen crew, cashiers, and supervisors to ensure efficient operations.
  • Attend training sessions, briefings, and meetings as required.
  • Maintain punctuality, discipline, and professional grooming standards.
  • Be willing to support other operational areas when required by management.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor, Outlet Manager, or Management

Job Requirements

Job Requirements

  • Minimum SPM or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience in F&B, restaurant service, or hospitality is an advantage.
  • Pleasant personality with good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer-focused, proactive, and service-oriented attitude.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
  • Strong teamwork and willingness to learn.
  • Able to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Good personal hygiene and grooming standards.
  • Basic English and Bahasa Malaysia communication skills; additional languages are an advantage.
