About the role

Work Location             : 1Powerhouse, PJ (5mins walk from MRT Bandar Utama)
Reporting To               : RTR Manager (Europe)
Working hours            : 2-11pm 

 

As a key member of the broader GBS Record-to-Report team, the Intercompany Controller oversees Intercompany Accounting and month-end activities. This team is dedicated to ensuring a seamless, efficient, and compliant end-to-end cycle for all stakeholders.

Reporting to the Record-to-Report Manager, the Intercompany Controller leads the Intercompany team, delivers services to their respective entities, drives process improvements, and maintains a focus on providing exceptional customer service.

 

Key responsibilities

Service Delivery

  • Lead a team in managing the daily and monthly intercompany processing activities.
  • Oversee intercompany processes, including trade and non-trade posting, intercompany matching and settlements, aging reports, period-end close activities (revaluations, reconciliations, and journal postings), and year-end activities (such as goods in transit posting).
  • Support management and the team with key projects, including new country integrations, acquisitions, and reorganizations, with significant project involvement.
  • Drive continuous improvements in intercompany processes and practices across all companies and ledgers.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve intercompany issues and disputes.
  • Review monthly intercompany reports and provide feedback to drive improvements.
  • Work closely with other business units to ensure a smooth month-end close on intercompany balances.
  • Assist with interim and year-end audits, including preparing year-end audit files, liaising with the audit team, and preparing year-end group reporting.
  • Handle ad-hoc queries and project-related requirements as needed.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity for reporting purposes.
  • Collaborate with global and regional teams, as well as business units, to ensure alignment on intercompany matters.

 

People Management

  • Manage and develop the Intercompany team, ensuring an effective team structure.
  • Coordinate processes and workloads within the team to ensure efficiency.
  • Foster employee development for new assignments and potential promotions.
  • Create a motivating and engaging work environment to encourage staff retention.
  • Ensure team members are cross-trained to maintain continuous service during leave or turnover.
  • Recruit and hire new team members as necessary to meet team needs.
  • Evaluate and coach employees to support their development and growth.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and annual assessments, offering constructive feedback.
  • Guide the team in analyzing and reviewing Income Statements, Balance Sheets, and period-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Take a consultative approach to problem-solving, collaborating with stakeholders to understand issues, provide in-depth analysis, and present practical solutions.

 

Qualifications and skills

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA, ideally ACA) with a minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience in a managerial role for 3-4 years or more.
  • Proficient in SAP and Excel.
  • Extensive experience in preparing Balance Sheet Reconciliations, Intercompany Accounting and Reconciliation, BPC (group consolidation submission), and providing Audit Support (both Internal and External).
  • Strong skills in People Management and Senior Stakeholder Management.
