About the role

 

QC Executive is responsible to ensure laboratory safety and smooth operation of the laboratory, oversee product testing, and manage raw materials / finished products release while actively contributing to cost-saving initiatives and continual improvement of quality processes.

 

Work Location : Tampoi ( Johor) 

 

Reporting to : Food Safety and Quality Manager 

Key responsibilities

 

Laboratory Operations:

 

  • Plan, organize and coordinate tasks to ensure safe, reliable and efficient laboratory activities.
  • Ensure accurate and timely analysis and releasing of raw and primary packaging materials, in-process samples, and finished products while upholding GLP, food safety & quality standards such as GMP, HACCP, FSSC 22000.
  • Review and interpret test results to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Monitor Quality Inspection in SAP, ensure proper downgrading or rejections of non-conforming materials / products.
  • Update daily product status, control and manage rework inventory and usage.
  • Perform material or product shelf-life evaluation as and when required.
  • Minimize product variability in food safety & quality attributes through the application of statistical analysis to key processes.
  • Monitor laboratory equipment, to ensure they are calibrated and well-maintained.
  • Validate analytical testing methodology and the reliance and validity of the testing methods.
  • Administer proficiency testing to monitor the performance of lab technicians.
  • Prepare and maintain SOP, WI, COA, and other quality documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all quality control activities, including test results, audits, and corrective actions, ensuring full traceability of materials / products.
  • Manage department expenses to ensure wise expenditure.

 

 
Ensuring Product Quality and Safety:

 

  • Assist in the implementation and maintaining quality control (including In Process Quality Control - IPQC) procedures, protocols and standards in compliance with food safety and quality requirements / regulations.
  • Track quality metrics and prepare reports, presentations, operational documents, and other communications containing descriptive, analytical, and evaluative content related to Quality Control activities.
  • Document and report deviations or non-conformities promptly. Support in analyzing and troubleshooting of non-conformances (NCR / customer complaint) and coordinating Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Plan (RCAAP).
  • Support internal and external audits.

 

Driving Continuous Improvement:

 

  • Identifying areas for improvement that could improve employee safety, quality, food safety, cost and lab testing efficiency & accuracy.
  • Provide necessary guidance / training and committed to company training.
  • Coordinate annual sensory refresher training.

 

Team Leadership and People Management:

 

  • Lead, supervise, prepare duty roster and train a team of QC Assistant / Lab Technicians.
  • Periodic review of direct reports’ performance and development plans.

 

Qualifications and skills

 

 

  • Degree in Chemistry, Food Science, or related disciplines.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in QC or laboratory roles, preferably in manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in laboratory testing techniques and instrument (e.g. NIR, Gerber, etc.).
  • Sound knowledge in SAP, HACCP, process control procedure, Statistical Process Control (SPC), laboratory management and ISO 17025.
