Role Purpose

You will build reliable accounting routines and scale day-to-day processes so our finance work runs smoothly as the business grows. This role focuses on creating tidy records, repeatable month-end steps, and straightforward reports that help the team act faster.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities

Financial Operations

• Process accounts payable and supplier invoices, ensuring timely payments and accurate coding.
• Manage accounts receivable, prepare customer statements, and follow up on overdue balances.
• Reconcile bank accounts and supplier statements regularly to keep ledgers clean and audit-ready.
• Support month-end close activities, including journal entries and basic ledger reviews.

Customer & Vendor Accounts

• Maintain accurate customer and vendor records in the accounting system and resolve discrepancies quickly.
• Coordinate billing and collections with sales or store teams to reduce outstanding receivables.
• Prepare payment runs and liaise with banks for transfers and payment confirmations.
• Assist with supplier onboarding checks and documentation to speed up procurement cycles.

Reporting & Controls

• Produce weekly cash position updates and simple P&L summaries to help managers plan working capital.
• Draft clear supporting schedules for key balances and assist with internal reviews.
• Help maintain internal controls by documenting processes and highlighting control gaps.
• Support auditors by preparing schedules and responding to routine information requests.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent field with approximately 2 years of accounting experience.
• Prior exposure to trading, retail, or distribution accounting preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience handling both accounts payable and receivable in a fast-moving environment.

Hard Skills & Knowledge

• Practical knowledge of double entry bookkeeping and month-end close procedures.
• Proficiency with MS Excel for reconciliations and basic reporting, and familiarity with ERP or accounting software.
• Ability to prepare simple financial reports, bank reconciliations and supporting schedules accurately.
• Comfortable with electronic payments, invoicing workflows, and basic inventory-related accounting entries.

Soft Skills & Qualities

• Strong attention to detail and accountability for accurate records and timely tasks.
• Good communication skills to coordinate with vendors, stores and internal teams.
• Organised and able to manage multiple priorities, especially around month-end activities.
• Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and improve processes over time.
