Key responsibilities

Process and procedure improvement

● Evaluate existing finance processes (e.g., month-end close, reconciliations, journal entries) and identify automation or streamlining opportunities.

● Collaborate on enhancements to internal controls, financial policies and system implementations, promoting operational effectiveness and efficiency.

● Document improved standard operating procedures and train team members to sustain process integrity.

Financial reporting enhancement and regularization

● Assist in preparing timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements including income statements, balance sheets and cash flow reports.

● Develop and maintain recurring internal reports (e.g. management dashboards, variance analyses, forecasts) ensuring consistent delivery schedules.

● Collaborate to refine reporting formats and metrics for improved clarity and decision support.

Research and advisory on accounting best practices and standards

● Stay current with updates in accounting standards (e.g. MFRS/ IFRS) and ensure their correct application in financial reporting.

● Provide guidance on direct and indirect tax regulations in Malaysia ensuring compliance and advising on planning opportunities.

● Support financial forecasting by researching suitable models, best practices and applying them to internal processes.

Budget and forecast preparation

● Assist in developing the annual budget and ongoing financial forecasts including modeling different scenarios and sensitivity analysis.

● Provide clear articulation of budget assumptions and support justification during review cycles.

● Coordinate with business units to gather inputs and reconcile forecasts with operational plans.

Financial analysis and presentation of insights

● Conduct in-depth analyses – variance, trend, ratio, profitability, cost – across functional areas to support business decisions.

● Summarize complex financial data into executive-level insights; craft and deliver effective presentations to leadership.

● Assist in special projects (e.g. new product cost analysis, capital expenditure evaluation, ROI modeling).


Job Requirements

Core requirements

● Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field. Professional qualification (ACCA/ CPA/ MICPA/ CIMA) is preferred.

● Minimum five (5) to seven (7) years of relevant finance experience, including at least two (2) to three (3) years in a supervisory or assistant manager role.

● Solid grounding in accounting frameworks (IFRS/ MFRS).

● Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling and trend/ variance analysis.

● Experience with ERP/ financial reporting systems and advanced spreadsheet functions.

● Knowledge of Malaysia tax compliance (both direct and indirect).

Soft skills

● Keen analytical and problem-solving ability with meticulous attention to detail.

● Strong communication and interpersonal skills – able to present insights clearly and collaborate across teams.

● Able to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines; adaptable to evolving priorities.

● Ethical, proactive and capable of working with discretion when handling sensitive financial data.
