Our Client a leading bank in Asia with a global network of more than 500 branches and offices in 19 countries and territories in Asia Pacific, Europe, and North America, are looking for Data Engineers.
The Technology and Operations function is comprised of five teams of specialists with distinct capabilities: business partnership, technology, operations, risk governance, and planning support and services. They work closely together to harness the power of technology to support our physical and digital banking services and operations. This includes developing, centralising, and standardising technology systems as well as banking operations in Malaysia and overseas branches.
The client has more than 80 years of history in the banking industry and is expanding its footprint in Malaysia.
You will be working in a newly set-up technology centre located in Kuala Lumpur as part of Technology and Operations to deliver innovative financial technology solutions that enable business growth and technology transformation.
Implement quarterly release changes related to enhancements in the customer entitlement workflow application. Work within a microservices architecture using Java Spring Boot, and contribute to the development, tuning, and integration of services and databases.
Responsibilities
Develop and enhance a Java Spring Boot based application.
Collaborate with solution architects and business analysts to understand functional requirements.
Perform impact analysis and implement changes in Java code and Oracle database schemas.
Optimize Oracle database performance and tune queries for scalability.
Integrate services with Kafka for event-driven communication.
Manage database versioning and migrations using Liquibase.
Participate in Agile sprints, including planning, development, testing, and retrospectives.
Ensure code quality through unit testing and code reviews.
Support deployment and troubleshooting activities during release cycles.
Skills
Must have
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
6+ years of experience in Java development with strong expertise in Spring Boot.
Hands-on experience with Oracle database tuning and performance optimization.
Familiarity with Kafka for distributed messaging and event streaming.
Experience with Liquibase for database change management.
Proficient in Agile development methodologies and sprint-based delivery.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to assess impact of changes across services and databases.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
