As a Quality Control Engineer you will build and scale inspection methods and measurement routines that help the production team ship reliable parts. You will set up test plans, introduce repeatable checks, and make sure improvements stick in daily shop practice.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities

Inspection & Testing

• Perform first-article inspections and in-process checks using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMM to verify part conformance.
• Run coordinate measuring machine (CMM) programs and validate measurement results for repeatability.
• Collect, log, and interpret dimensional data to support pass-fail decisions for production lots.
• Lead root cause checks on non-conforming parts and recommend immediate containment actions.

Process Improvement & Documentation

• Develop and maintain inspection plans, sampling procedures, and work instructions for common products.
• Create clear inspection reports and update control plans when drawings or processes change.
• Suggest simple process changes to reduce rework and improve first-pass yield.
• Support internal audits and help the team prepare for external quality assessments.

Cross-Functional Coordination

• Work closely with production, maintenance, and engineering to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
• Train operators on basic measurement techniques and inspection checkpoints.
• Coordinate with suppliers on incoming inspection findings and follow up on corrective actions.
• Communicate quality trends and action items in regular shop-floor meetings.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• Approximately 2 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing quality role or equivalent shop-floor exposure.
• Prior exposure to machining, metal fabrication, or assembly environments is preferred.

Hard Skills & Knowledge

• Practical use of precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and bore gauges.
• Experience programming or operating a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and basic metrology routines.
• Familiarity with quality documentation, control plans, and basic statistical tools like SPC and measurement system analysis.
• Knowledge of Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering principles applied to manufacturing quality control.

Soft Skills & Qualities

• Clear communicator who can explain measurement findings to operators and engineers concisely.
• Methodical and detail-oriented, with a practical mindset for solving recurring shop-floor issues.
• Willingness to learn, coach others, and accept feedback while improving inspection routines.
