Job Description

Majlis Media Malaysia is looking for an alert and responsive intern to join our Media Reform and Practice team.

You will monitor news and online discussions, track developments affecting the media industry, prepare media summaries, and flag important or emerging issues.

Purpose of the role

• To support the monitoring of news coverage, online discussions and public perception relating to the Malaysian media industry. 
• The role helps the team identify emerging issues, possible crises and developments involving media personnel or enforcement matters.
• Responsible for monitoring relevant media channels, recording and checking information, promptly flagging important developments, preparing concise updates, maintaining accurate trackers, and supporting urgent or ad-hoc research when required.

Duties for the role

• Monitor news reports, online media, social media and other relevant public sources.
• Track media perception, emerging issues and developments affecting the media industry.
• Flag potential crises, urgent developments or inaccurate information to the supervisor promptly.
• Track publicly available information involving media personnel, enforcement action and related matters.
• Prepare clear daily or weekly media monitoring summaries and internal updates.
• Maintain accurate records of articles, links, cases, sources and follow-up actions.
• Verify information using reliable sources before including it in reports or alerts.
• Support background research and other ad-hoc monitoring tasks assigned by the supervisor.
