Job Description

POSITION GENERAL SUMMARY

  • Assist in planning, organizing, directing, controlling and evaluating construction projects on Mechanical or Electrical aspects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget.
  • Assist for assessing, reviewing, recommending, and advising the best non-BHS (MEP) and BHS design solution and able to provides an objective and fresh viewpoint to improve operation, business requirement and aspirations while adhering to authority’s requirement locally and internationally.

 

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

  • Assist in managing, planning & coordinating the day-to-day construction management of the BHS project including review, evaluate and advise on non-BHS (MEP and BHS Mechanical (Conveyor, Sortation, Early Baggage Storage, Independent Carrier System) design, document, and relevant drawings for Asset Replacement Program, 
  • Co-ordinate with other sub system such as electrical system, control system, inline baggage screening system and IT to ensure overall BHS system is functional as per desired parameter, 
  • Prepare and implement the development of Project Execution Plan using the relevant project tools such as BIM/PIM and its implementation plus ensuring lessons learned are properly documented through out the life of the project including Project Close-out,
  • Monitor and report to Construction Manager of project details, including progress, risks and opportunities in a timely manner and full utilisation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) & Project Information Modelling (PIM),
  • Ensures all changes to specifications, work scope and drawings are well documented,
  • Monitor construction productivity and schedule performance and investigate reasons for unsatisfactory performance. 
  • Provide recommendations and institute measures for improvement by modification to operating procedures/ work instructions.
  • Adhere to Company Safety Standards and promote safety culture among the ranks through out the Company.
  • Planning and preparing construction schedules and milestones, and monitoring progress against established schedules as well as integration part with the current BHS operations,
  • Coordinate with relevant sub unit such as O&M team, High Level Control team, ORAT and Construction team to ensure ARP Project execute properly.
  • Assist in assessing, reviewing, recommending and advising the best non-BHS and BHS design solution for mechanical, electrical and low level control within certain parameter as per technical specification and able to provides an objective and fresh viewpoint to improve operation, business requirement and aspirations while adhering to authority’s requirement locally and internationally to ensure the system is efficient, reliable, provide redundancy and workable.
  • Assist in review, evaluate, and advise on non-BHS and BHS design based on BHS process, document, and relevant drawings and the phasing plan and advise Project Management & ORAT Team for construction phasing work timeline, implementation plan, functional testing, and operational readiness by utilizing the Building Information Modelling (BIM) & Project Information Modelling (PIM). 
  • Assist in managing the system simulation to ensure the technical solution fulfils the customer requirements, and that the system is sufficiently robust, functional, and for expected uncertain operational situations.
  • Monitor and check the phasing work to minimize impact to the current BHS operation. Perform site inspection when required.
  • Any other ad-hoc projects and duties as required by the management.

Key Challenges

  • To ensure the non-BHS and BHS approved design are updated and implemented accordingly,
  • To play a part in project team and work together with the OEM's project team.
  • Full implementation of Building Information Modelling throughout the project. 
  • Coordination with relevant stakeholder to ensure execution of phasing work minimal impact to operation.   

Skills

  • Strong understanding and conscious of safe work practice
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to work independently 
  • Familiar with Factories and Machinery Act 1967, Environmental Quality Act and Occupational Safety and Health 1994.

Education

Internal        

  • Recognized Engineering Degree level in Mechanical /Electrical from an established university in Malaysia/ UK/ US/ Canada/ Australia/ Singapore accrediated by Boards of Engineer Malaysia        

External        

  • Recognized Engineering Degree level in Mechanical /Electrical from an established university in Malaysia/ UK/ US/ Canada/ Australia/ Singapore accrediated by Boards of Engineer Malaysia        

Relevant Industries

Internal        

  • Good understanding, and working knowledge in overall construction environment including new technology and relevant authority bodies requirement.        

External        

  • Good understanding, and working knowledge in overall construction environment including new technology and relevant authority bodies requirement.
  • Preferably with 3 years experience in construction
  • Relevant experience in Baggage Handling System (BHS) is an added advantage.
