Job Description

POSITION GENERAL SUMMARY

Responsible for delivering an operable, safe and reliable operation and maintenance of Track Transit System in accordance with the specified maintenance standards and quality

 

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

 

  • Overall in-charge and responsible to all Track Transit System and its facilities are in good working condition.
  • Ensure all the performance targets for all the facilities are met.
  • Ensure all the planned preventative maintenance are carried out systematically and efficiently to provide smooth running of the system.
  • Responsible for preparation of annual budget.
  • Efficiently control and monitor utilization the approved budget for the unit.
  • Monitor and control spare parts procurement.
  • Responsible for certifying invoices for payment purposes.
  • Monitor and control personnel management and compliance to the safety standard and company’s regulations.
  • Responsible for review, update and maintain the standard operating procedure and records in accordance to ISO 9001:2008 requirements.
  • Responsible for preparation of technical specification and execution of development works.
  • Report to Engineering Senior Manager on the unit’s problems and performance.
  • Liase/follow-up with operation unit/contractors/suppliers of the facilities on maintenance and operational matters.
  • Lead special project when the need arises.
  • Interface with other division if they require any assistance.
  • To follow instructions from superior from time to time.

Key Challenges

 

  • Dependency on the OEM, the train supplier. Most of system components are propriety in nature and could only be sourced from the OEM. An effective and efficient of managing inventory of spares are essential in ensuring uninterrupted supply of spares, which will result in major disruption to the overall operation of TTS.
  • High dependency on the train supplier, the OEM. The train supplier OEM faces the risks of parts obsolescence due to the OEM vendor invented newer and better products.
  • Due to highly dependency on the train supplier, the OEM, the pricing of spares keep on increasing in light of high material costs and risk exposure from their own supply chain management system and vendor management system.
  • As technology changes and evolves, the TTS needs to keep abreast with technological change in terms of hardware, computer networking and communication system that taking place in the market.
  • With limited maintenance window due to the fixed and scheduled operation hours and having the trains reached overdue overhaul programs, need scheduled component replacement program and the need to rearrange preventive and corrective maintenance work accordingly based on priority.
  • Unable to fully implement maintenance program due to budget constraint. With limited budget available, need to strike a balance between highest availability, cost and comfort. Furthermore, failure to schedule component replacement as per manufacturer recommendation can lead to potential risk of equipment failure.
  • Since TTS is specialized system and at the moment there is no specialized scheme in place. Retaining knowledge, skills and talent workers are difficult due to promotion s by HR to other units. Training a new recruitment requires long time as they want to built-up the learning curves.

  • To ensure the system being outsourced is carried out according to the prescribed maintenance schedule
  • To provide necessary advice on the technical specifications and technical issues
  • Airport system Manager

  • To get support on IT system performance i.e. SAPS.

  • CAAM- QoS
  • DOSH
  • Suruhanjaya Tenaga
  • To ensure compliance to the train license requirement and regulations.
  • To meet all the Service Level Agremeents (SLA) set by requlator body 

 

Skills

Education

External

  • A recognized degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical, Electronics and Mechanical Engineering with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 above

Relevant Industries

 

External

  • A minimum of 7 years of working experience in an engineering executive role
  • Working experience in operations and maintenance of mechanical and  Electrical systems, a minimum of 7 years.
  • Knowledge in Automated People Mover (APM) is preferable.
