Job Description

Job Purpose

The Storekeeper is responsible for managing and maintaining the inventory of goods and supplies within the store or warehouse. This includes receiving, storing, issuing, and keeping records of materials while ensuring efficient storage practices and maintaining accurate inventory records.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management

• Receive and inspect incoming goods for quantity, quality, and compliance with purchase orders.
• Organize and store goods in designated areas to ensure easy accessibility and optimal use of space.
• Conduct regular inventory checks and maintain accurate records of stock levels.
• Report any discrepancies, damages, or shortages promptly to the relevant department.

Issuance and Requisition

• Prepare and issue materials, tools, and equipment as per approved requests.
• Record all transactions accurately to maintain an updated inventory database.
• Monitor stock usage and coordinate replenishment to prevent shortages.

Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain proper documentation of stock movement, including receipts, transfers, and returns.
• Generate periodic inventory and stock usage reports for management review.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures in all storekeeping activities.

Store Organization and Safety

• Ensure the store is clean, well-organized, and free from hazards.
• Implement and adhere to safety guidelines for handling and storing materials.
• Coordinate with relevant teams for maintenance of storage equipment and facilities.

Coordination

• Liaise with procurement and other departments to ensure timely availability of materials.
• Assist in annual stock audits and provide necessary documentation and support.

Job Requirements

• Proficient in forklift operation.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities
• Attention to detail with accurate record-keeping skills.
• Skilled in inventory management software or basic computer usage (e.g.,Microsoft Excel).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal aptitude.
• Capable of lifting and moving heavy objects as needed.
