Why does this job exist and why is it critical?
Requirements
1. Vendor Relationship & Performance Management:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with solar vendors, including suppliers of panels, inverters, and other essential components.
- Monitor vendor performance against service-level agreements (SLAs), including on-time delivery, product quality, and responsiveness.
- Conduct regular vendor reviews and provide feedback to improve service levels and address performance issues.
- Negotiate terms with vendors to optimize costs and service quality.
2. Capacity Forecasting & Planning:
- Forecast demand for solar products based on upcoming installation schedules and customer orders.
- Coordinate with vendors to ensure they have sufficient capacity to meet demand, especially during peak installation periods.
- Collaborate with the logistics and supply chain teams to align forecasts and prevent supply chain disruptions.
3. Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Establish and enforce quality standards for all solar materials procured from vendors.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of vendor products to ensure they meet company and industry quality standards.
- Work with vendors to implement corrective actions for quality issues and monitor improvements.
4. Risk Management:
- Identify and mitigate risks related to vendor reliability, capacity, and quality.
- Develop contingency plans for vendor-related issues, such as sourcing alternative suppliers when needed.
- Monitor compliance with legal, regulatory, and safety standards across all vendor relationships.
5. Cost Control & Budgeting:
- Monitor vendor pricing to ensure alignment with the company’s cost targets.
- Evaluate cost-saving opportunities, such as bulk ordering or long-term agreements.
- Track vendor-related expenses and report on budget variances.
6. Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Collect and analyze data on vendor performance, quality, and capacity.
- Prepare regular reports for senior management, highlighting vendor performance, areas for improvement, and strategic recommendations.
- Use data insights to continuously improve vendor management practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in vendor management or related fields, highly preferable to be from the solar industry.
- Proven track record in managing vendor relationships and performance in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Experience in capacity planning, demand forecasting, and risk management.
