Why does this job exist and why is it critical?
Requirement
1. Procurement & Supplier Management:
- Lead the tendering process for sourcing solar panels, inverters, and other materials, ensuring the selection of tier 1 brands at competitive prices.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating terms, prices, and delivery schedules.
- Conduct supplier audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and timely delivery commitments.
- Continuously monitor market trends to identify new suppliers or opportunities to optimize procurement costs.
2. Logistics Management:
- Oversee the entire logistics process, from coordinating shipments from international suppliers to delivering materials to customer sites.
- Manage the transport of goods from the port to the warehouse and ensure that inventory is properly stored and tracked.
- Work closely with contractors to ensure materials are delivered to customer locations in sync with installation schedules.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders and local transport companies to ensure smooth customs clearance and timely deliveries.
3. Inventory & Warehouse Management:
- Ensure proper inventory management systems are in place to track stock levels and prevent shortages or overstocking.
- Optimize warehouse operations, ensuring efficient storage, handling, and dispatch of materials.
- Develop systems to forecast demand based on sales projections and ensure that materials are available to meet installation timelines.
4. Process Optimization:
- Continuously review supply chain processes to identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency improvements, and enhanced reliability.
- Implement supply chain management software or tools to track shipments, inventory, and supplier performance.
- Work with the finance team to ensure that procurement and logistics costs align with the overall budget.
5. Risk Management & Compliance:
- Identify potential risks in the supply chain, such as delays, supplier issues, or logistics disruptions, and develop contingency plans.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements for the import, transport, and storage of solar panels and inverters.
- Manage any issues related to customs clearance, tariffs, and import/export regulations.
6. Collaboration & Reporting:
- Collaborate with sales, product, and operations teams to ensure alignment on procurement timelines and customer delivery expectations.
- Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on procurement costs, logistics performance, and inventory levels.
- Develop and maintain key metrics to track the performance of the supply chain and logistics operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- A Master's degree or certifications in procurement, logistics, or supply chain management (e.g., APICS CSCP, CIPS, or CPSM) are advantageous.
- 7–10 years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, or logistics
- Hands-on experience managing international shipments, customs clearance, and working with freight forwarders.
