Job Description

• Assist in the preparation and cooking of menu items, ensuring they meet the establishment’s standards.
• Follow recipes and presentation guidelines set by the Chef de Partie and Head Chef and prepare ingredients, sauces, and garnishes as required.
• Ensure all mise en place is prepared and ready for service.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations and kitchen areas.
• Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards, including proper storage of food items.
• Monitor the quality and consistency of dishes before they leave the kitchen.
• Address any issues with food quality or presentation promptly.
• Support and assist the Chef de Partie in daily kitchen operations.
• Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient service and provide guidance and mentorship to junior kitchen staff and apprentices as needed.
• Help manage and control inventory, including ordering and stocking supplies.
• Ensure proper rotation and use of ingredients to minimize waste.
• Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance culinary skills.
• Stay updated on current food trends and techniques.
• Perform any ad hoc assignments as and when required by the Management.

Job Requirements

• Previous experience as a Commis Chef or in a similar role within a professional kitchen.
• Culinary Diploma or relevant qualification is preferred.
• Fluent in Chinese (Mandarin or other dialects), Bahasa Melayu and English.
• Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety, and hygiene standards.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Creativity and attention to detail in food preparation and presentation.
