<li>&nbsp;MACP is a non-profit organisation whose main functions are to license users of music and collect royalties to be distributed to its members who comprise songwriters and music publishers when their works are broadcasted, publicly performed or communicated to the public.&nbsp;</li>
<li>&nbsp;MACP’s authority to license music in Malaysia is derived statutorily from the Copyright Act 1987 as well as the mandates that MACP members and foreign collective management organisations provide to it.</li>
<li>&nbsp;MACP was incorporated as a public company limited by guarantee in September 1989 and is declared by the Controller of Copyright in Malaysia as a CMO pursuant to the Copyright Act 1987.</li>
<li>&nbsp;In addition, by virtue of reciprocal agreements with other foreign CMO, MACP represents the rights in musical works of international songwriters and music publishers for their musical works from all over the world. Therefore, MACP is able to issue blanket licences to users who are then able to perform any musical works from MACP’s global music repertoire.</li>

About MACP

<ul>
<li>&nbsp;MACP administer and manage the performing right in the musical works owned or exclusively controlled in Malaysia by MACP members as well as the members of MACP’s affiliated CMOs around the world.&nbsp;</li>
<li>&nbsp;MACP authorizes the playing and performing in public of millions of songs, including the most popular and well-loved music from Malaysia and around the world. As such, any business or organisation communicating, playing or performing live or pre-recorded music in public regardless of whether it is to their staff and/or customers will usually require MACP Licence.&nbsp;</li>
<li>&nbsp;MACP license hundreds of thousands of businesses and organisations including shops, restaurants, pubs, offices, factories, gyms, nightclubs, community buildings, cinemas, airlines, music festivals and concert venues. In addition to that, MACP also license for other rights such as licensing TV and radio broadcasters, businesses (sometimes known as “dubbers”) who copy music for supply to other businesses, and digital service providers.</li>
<li>&nbsp;All of these collections made by MACP will be distributed back to its members who consist of songwriters &amp; music publishers. The distribution of all collections is in accordance with parameters such as airtime (duration), frequency and based on usage return that are submitted to MACP by licensees and from music recognition services employed by MACP to make its distributions.&nbsp;</li>

<li>Advise and educate music users the need and importance to obtain a license for the use of copyrighted music;</li>
<li>Actively seeking out new licensing opportunities through market survey, calling, networking and social media;</li>
<li>Walk through applicants on the licensing requirements and application process;&nbsp;</li>
<li>Inspect and investigate commercial premises/events for unlicensed use of copyrighted music;</li>
<li>Advise, negotiate and conclude deals with music users based on the Company’s licensing tariffs or best possible commercial term;</li>
<li>Manage administrative tasks including assessing application, invoicing, collating information, monitor payment to facilitate business operators’ and event organisers’ compliance;</li>
<li>Prepare status reports, manage correspondences, meet and exceed individual and group targets;</li>
<li>Suggest, propose and liaise with in-house lawyers in respect of enforcement matters involving the Company;</li>
