Job Description

To design the Mechanical and Electrical systems of Bio/Pharmaceutical Manufacturing facility and support the business development efforts in conceptual design, basic, and detail engineering, proposal preparation and assist in technical presentation to customers as well as responsible for engineering execution and project management including plant commissioning and validation. To function as a member of a team as well as in individual assignments. To be prepared for both short and long term outstation/overseas project assignments.

Key Responsibilities

• To provide creative conceptual design, basic and detail engineering for bio/pharmaceutical manufacturing facility where there is a need to provide solutions to both the mechanical and electrical systems, and effective facility layout design solutions, in synergy with the building design.
• To support the business development team with customer relationships, development of proposals, formal presentations to prospective customers to secure new projects.
• To assist and support fellow Engineers and other colleagues.
• Responsible for mechanical and electrical design package in assigned projects.
• To prepare calculations to size various ACMV systems, utilities and site services.
• To develop Process Flow Diagram (PFD) and prepare the Design Philosophy of respective process and systems.
• To draft and review piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs); to develop piping specifications and to select pipes according to the piping class specifications.
• To prepare equipment/component/valve/piping/accessories lists of required parts and equipment with the right and relevant specifications.
• To acquire quotations from various suppliers for evaluation and to conduct careful and thorough evaluation of the selected equipment.
• To support in the costing of equipment/system and cost control to ensure requirements are met and the price quoted are within the budget estimates.
• To provide sufficient data for developing vessel guide drawings for local fabricators.
• To prepare Tender Documents/Specifications and/or User Requirement Specifications (URS) for various systems as per project requirements, and to carry out technical and commercial evaluations on vendor’s proposals. 
• To conduct quality checks on procured standard equipment upon delivery to ensure the right specifications are met and also to carry out Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), testing and commissioning (T&C), and qualifications.
• To supervise and provide instructions from the installation stage to commissioning, starting up as well as test-running of the plants to ensure customers' final acceptance.
• To be familiar and constantly updated with the requirements of current good manufacturing practices cGMP in design and facility operation.
• To collect and compile process data at customers’ site during start-up or after-sales activities.
• To coordinate with customers on the preparation of engineering time schedule, job execution and delivery time schedule in compliance with the respective contracts.
• To observe and adopt environmentally sound practices and to promote environmental awareness and responsible behaviour at all levels of the organization.
• To prepare documentation, drawings and manuals for the assigned projects.
• To assist in carrying out audit on selected suppliers and sub contractors.
• To participate in project reviews and risk analysis.
• To assist in organising and participate in seminars, trade show and exhibitions.
• To undertake any other tasks as and when assigned.

Job Requirements

• Experience: At least 1-3 years of professional background in Monitoring & Evaluation or Pharmaceutical engineering in the Malaysian construction or consultancy industry.
• Languages: Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia is essential; knowledge of Mandarin is a bonus for contractor and overseas communication.
