As a Clinic Assistant / Medical Assistant you keep clinics running smoothly by assisting doctors during consultations and procedures, managing medications and inventory, coordinating patient registration, and maintaining hygiene across rostered shifts including midnight coverage. You are the practical backbone who helps clinicians focus on patient care while the clinic stays organised and responsive.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities

Clinical support

• Support doctors during consultations and minor procedures by preparing equipment, taking observations, and assisting with basic clinical tasks.
• Administer medications and perform routine nursing duties under clinician guidance while documenting care accurately.

Patient flow & communication

• Manage patient registration, triage, and phone enquiries with clear, professional communication to keep clinics running on schedule.
• Provide concise patient education on medications and follow-up steps, and escalate clinical concerns to senior staff when needed.

Operations & safety

• Maintain medication and supply inventory, track expiry dates, and support stock replenishment across clinic sites.
• Ensure infection prevention and cleanliness standards are met during all shifts, including midnight rotations, and assist with community outreach activities when required.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) with current licensure preferred.
• Associate egree or diploma in nursing or medical assisting from an accredited programme.
• Previous experience as a Medical Assistant, Clinic Nurse, Clinic Assistant, or similar healthcare role preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification required.
• Own reliable transportation and able to work rotation shifts including midnight shifts 1-3 times per week.

Hard Skills & Knowledge

• Practical skills in medication administration, basic procedures, vital signs, triage, and clinic documentation.
• Familiarity with inventory control, expiry tracking, and basic stock ordering processes.
• Awareness of current healthcare practices and a readiness to learn clinic systems such as EMR or paper records.

Soft Skills & Qualities

• Strong problem-solving ability and comfort handling multiple tasks in a busy clinic environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a professional, ethical, and approachable demeanour.
• Reliable, adaptable team player who can work rostered shifts and support outreach or multi-site coverage.
