Off The Record is a listening room, record library, and audio showroom opening at APW Bangsar in November 2026. The Host is an on-site, shift-based role who welcomes guests, runs guided and open listening sessions, knows the catalogue by story, and helps create thoughtful listening experiences on the floor.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

• Welcome people properly; give unhurried orientation to Guided and Open sessions.
• Run Guided sessions: offer ways in, shortlist two or three records that fit a guest, and listen well.
• Support Open sessions: help self-directed guests find their way around the shelf without hovering.
• Log the visit: record what happened, what they listened to, and anything worth remembering for future visits.
• Know the catalogue by story: where a record came from, who shaped it, what it connects to, and who it tends to land with.
• Handle exits softly: offer to reserve, sell, or lend records (for Collector members) without pitching.
• Point people to food and drink; explain QR ordering with APW partners in a sentence.
• Be reliable on shifts, including some evenings and weekends.
• Read a room quickly and hold real conversations with strangers without making them feel awkward.
• Unhurried approach; no hard sell, and comfortable working without a script.
• Nice to have: experience in bookshops, record shops, tour guiding, museums or galleries; specialty hospitality with a regulars culture (independent coffee, small bars); familiarity with vinyl and turntables.
• Reporting & Logistics: Reports to Operations Manager; on-site at APW Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur; start date ahead of November 2026 launch; compensation to be finalised.
