Job Description

A Housekeeping Supervisor oversees the daily operations of outsourced housekeeping personnel, ensuring cleanliness and maintenance standards are met throughout the facility. This role involves manpower management, inspecting rooms, and maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment. Housekeeping Supervisor is also responsible for performance monitoring, staff training, handling guest requests and grievances, and ensuring compliance with safety and health regulations. 

A more detailed breakdown of the responsibilities are as follows (this list is not exhaustive):

Manpower Management:

  • Supervising and planning housekeeping manpower schedule: This includes assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing feedback to improve performance.
  • Manage housekeeping operations: Overseeing the daily operations of housekeeping personnel, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Training and develop new housekeeping personnel: Training new employees on all relevant procedures, safety guidelines, and judicious use of equipment and supplies.
  • Addressing staff performance issues: Providing guidance and support to improve performance or taking disciplinary action when necessary. 

Facility Maintenance:

  • Ensuring cleanliness, sanitation and orderliness of all areas: Inspecting resident rooms, public areas, and other spaces to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene. This includes common areas, and administrative spaces. 
  • Implementing cleaning schedules and procedures: This ensures consistent standards of cleanliness throughout the facility. 
  • Manage inventory and supplies: Monitoring and maintaining adequate stock levels of cleaning supplies, linens and other necessary items. 
  • Inspecting the facility regularly: Identifying areas that need attention and addressing maintenance issues. Such matters need to be formulated in an official weekly report. 

Resident Care:

  • Preparing resident rooms for new admissions: Ensuring rooms are thoroughly cleaned and ready for occupancy, while working cohesively with Front Office and Wellness Departments. 
  • Ensuring smooth laundry and linen operations: Ensuring residents laundry and linen are cleaned in a proper and timely manner. 
  • Handle guest requests and addressing concerns: Addressing guest inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner. 

Administrative Duties:

  • Maintaining housekeeping policies and procedures: Ensuring all activities are conducted according to established guidelines. 
  • Maintaining records of supplies and costs: Tracking inventory and Keeping records of inspections, inventory, and other relevant data. 
  • Attending meetings with administration and other departments: Collaborating with other staff to ensure smooth operations. 
  • Coordinate with other departments: Communicating and collaborating with other departments, such as Front Office, Maintenance and Wellness Departments, to ensure smooth operations. 

Other Responsibilities:

  • Available to assist with housekeeping duties when needed: Proactively taking necessary immediate actions upon urgent matters related to the housekeeping department (noting that some of these emergencies may occur outside of normal working hours). 
  • Performing other duties as reasonably assigned by the immediate supervisor: Adapting to the pressing needs of the facility and the residents it serves. 

Job Requirements

 Requirement:

  • Candidate must possess at least a Diploma or Degree.
  • At least 1 - 2 year’s working experience in Housekeeping.
  • Good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Good time management and ability to work on multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and high integrity.
  • Pleasant and caring personality to deal with the elderly & senior citizen.
  • Experience in customer relationship management and dedication to providing great customer service.
