Job Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, General Accounting & Reconciliation, this position shall support the General Accounting (GA) BAU operations unit by performing general accounting processes timely and accurately on a daily basis by following the applicable standard operating procedures and internal policies.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily general accounting business-as-usual (BAU) operational tasks and complete BAU timely and properly.

  • Prepare or post journal entries, upon approval by the authorized approvers.

  • Perform accounts reconciliation (including suspense accounts) between source systems and GL system timely and properly to ensure completeness and accuracy of journal entries posted.

  • Investigate the unreconciled differences, including identifying root causes, action pans and target resolution dates to resolve the open items. Escalate issues identified, where appropriate.

  • Prepare ageing analysis timely and as and when required for reporting purposes.

  • Follow-up and resolve GL issues/discrepancies timely. Escalate issues identified, where appropriate.

  • Perform month-end closing tasks and complete month-end closing as per timeline.

  • Document/Update the general accounting processes SOPs as and when required.

  • Maintain GL system master data such as creation/deactivation of GL account, maintenance of GL code, etc.

  • Involve in UAT for any new product/features/digital partners and enhancement/improvement on existing GL posting related matters.

  • Subject Matter Expertise (SME) for Sun System and regularly engage in Sun System enhancement initiatives.

  • Work closely with the relevant stakeholders on any issues arising from general accounting processes.

  • Provide support on all issues identified from audit by external auditors, GwIA & Regional SOX team for general accounting processes related area.

  • Assist on any ad hoc & administrative tasks upon request.

Job Specifications:

Education

  • Bachelor or Degree in finance, accountancy, banking, investment, economics or equivalent.

  • Internationally recognized accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, ICAEW, etc.) or working towards designation will be an added advantage.

   Experience

  • At least 3 years of working experience in the financial services industry such as insurance or banking.

  • Working experience in the financial services industry such as insurance or banking will be an added advantage.

Special Business Knowledge and Skills

           

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications & financial accounting system.

  • Knowledge in any automation tool will be an advantage.

  • Strong analytical and resolution skills.

Others

  • Good command of Bahasa Malaysia and English.

  • Good interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Independent, organized and possess good work ethics with a positive attitude.

  • Flexible and able to adapt in a dynamic environment.

  • Attention to details, meticulous and diligent.

  • Strict adherence to applicable internal policies and procedures.

  • Strict compliance with all applicable deadlines and able to work under pressure.
