We are looking for a skilled and insightful Labour Economist to join our team. In this position, you will provide valuable insights into labour supply and demand, demographics, and broader labour market trends. Your expertise will guide strategic decisions and support meaningful economic analyses.
As a key advisor on the labour market for various sectors in Malaysia, you will enhance our understanding and assessment of these markets. You will also manage and conduct targeted research to support policy development for the state government, reinforcing our role as a trusted economic advisor.
Key accountabilities
Oversee the overall in-depth surveillance of the labour market and continuously improve the monitoring process to ensure the delivery of rigorous, timely and relevant economic assessments and forecasts of the sector to primarily support the client’s policy decision-making process
Monitor the labour market and enhance the process of tracking trends to provide accurate and timely economic insights and forecasts that support the client's policy decision-making process.
Plan, manage and undertake research and strategic studies on longer-term structural issues, particularly on the labour market, as well as on other areas relevant to the sustainability of economic growth and concerns related to monetary, fiscal, and financial policies
Oversee the drafting of well-written research papers and other publications to disseminate research findings internally and to the public and assist in drafting policy recommendations based on issues uncovered from research findings.
Participate and initiate collaborations with internal as well as external stakeholders to improve overall surveillance and research capacity
Keeping abreast with the latest theoretical and empirical techniques that can enhance research capability

Requirements
Master’s degree in Economics, with a focus on Labour Economics or a related field.
Preferably at least 5 years of working experience in the economics sector or financial sector.
Proven experience in conducting empirical research and economic modeling related to labour markets.
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in statistical software and econometric techniques.
Ability to produce research papers within the stipulated deadline.
Sound understanding of the domestic economy and its impact on economic growth.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Experience in policy advisory or consulting is a plus.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work well with others and independently when needed.
