Job Description

Job Overview

We are looking for a reliable, detail-focused, and seasoned Senior Account Executive to oversee the company's accounting functions, financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and month-end closing processes. The right candidate will have a solid grasp of accounting principles, the ability to work autonomously, and will provide management with precise financial data to aid in business decision-making.

Main Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Manage a complete set of accounts, including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and reconcile bank statements.
  • Compile monthly management accounts and financial statements.
  • Conduct month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Create journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and other necessary adjustments.
  • Produce Profit & Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, Cash Flow Statements, Budget Reports, and additional financial analyses.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Accurately and promptly process supplier invoices and payments.
  • Track customer payments and follow up on overdue accounts.
  • Ensure the correct issuance of invoices, debit memos, and credit memos.
  • Maintain aging reports and perform reconciliations of customer accounts.

Audit, Tax & Compliance

  • Assist with annual audits and tax-related issues.
  • Prepare documentation and supporting schedules for auditors and tax professionals.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting regulations and statutory obligations.
  • Support submissions related to SST, corporate tax, and other regulatory requirements as needed.

Payroll & Statutory Coordination

  • Collaborate with HR on payroll entries and statutory payments.
  • Verify and reconcile contributions to EPF, SOCSO, EIS, and PCB.
  • Guarantee timely payments and accurate recording of statutory liabilities.
  • Communicate with relevant authorities and external entities as necessary.

Financial Administration & Internal Control

  • Oversee daily financial activities including petty cash, expense reimbursements, and inventory transactions.
  • Maintain organized accounting records and filing systems.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all financial documents.
  • Detect discrepancies and suggest corrective measures.

General & Ad Hoc Duties

  • Engage with internal teams, suppliers, customers, auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies.
  • Assist management with financial insights and evaluations of business performance.
  • Complete ad hoc projects and tasks as directed by management.

Job Requirements

Education & Qualification

  • Possession of a Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Having a professional certification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, MIA) is considered a valuable asset.

Experience

  • At least 3–5 years of pertinent experience in accounting.
  • Proven track record in independently managing a Full Set of Accounts.
  • Experience in sectors such as logistics, transportation, trading, or similar industries is a plus.

Technical Competencies

  • Skilled in using AutoCount, SQL Accounting, or comparable accounting software.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Well-versed in Malaysian accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal oversight.
  • Strong time management skills and capacity to adhere to deadlines.

Language

  • Mandarin – Preferred for interaction with Mandarin-speaking clients, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • English – Proficient in both written and spoken forms.
