Job Description

Looking to build a career in conservation but not sure where to start?

The YELL Conservocation Programme is a 6-month paid internship designed to help young people gain real industry experience in the environmental sector. YELL is a joint initiative by UNDP Malaysia, Singapore & Brunei Darussalam and UNICEF Malaysia, in collaboration with Amanah Lestari Alam (ALAM), the European Union and the OSK Foundation.

If you are serious about building a career in biodiversity, climate action or sustainability, this programme is designed for you. Through this programme, you will be placed with environmental organisation across Malaysia to work on real conservation and sustainability projects.

This is more than just an internship. It’s an opportunity to:

  • Gain hands-on experience in conservation and sustainability projects
  • Develop practical skills in project coordination, stakeholder engagement and reporting
  • Work closely with environmental practitioners and experts
  • Build professional networks within the green industry
  • Strengthen your CV with meaningful, impact-driven work

 Programme Commitment

  • 6-month full-time paid internship
  • Placement period: April – September 2026
  • Working hours and location will vary depending on host organisation
  • Some placements may require travel or field visits

Job Requirements

 We are looking for young people who are:

  • Aged 18–30 years old
  • Based in Malaysia
  • Willing to commit full-time for 6 months
  • Genuinely interested in conservation, sustainability and environmental work
  • Proactive, adaptable and eager to learn
  • Comfortable working both independently and in a team
  • Physically prepared for fieldwork (some placements may involve outdoor activities, long hours in nature or travel to remote areas)
  • Confident communicators who can engage with local communities and stakeholders
  • Comfortable using basic digital tools (laptop, Microsoft Office, social media for documentation and content)
