Job Description

The Senior Business Analyst acts as a key liaison between business stakeholders and Agile delivery teams, ensuring that business needs are clearly understood, priori sed, and translated into actionable user stories and acceptance criteria. This role is responsible for driving high-quality solutions that deliver measurable business value, supporting the full so ware development lifecycle from discovery through to development, testing, and cutover. The Senior BA champions Agile principles, facilitates collaboration across cross-functional teams, and ensures continuous improvement in processes and outcomes

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis And Requirements Gathering:

  • Collaborate with Product Owner and stakeholders to refine and priori se the product backlog.
  • Elicit, document, and validate user stories, acceptance criteria, and business rules.
  • Ensure requirements are clear, testable, and aligned with business objectives.
  • Constantly looking to improve and streamline business processes and requirements to achieve business and IT goals.

Problem Solving And Critical Thinking:

  • Independently provide support and think through solutions on complex issues and business requests.
  • Efficiently assess complex business impact to system improvements, defects and queries.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and solution design.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Ability to engage with senior stakeholders, facilitate workshops, and manage competing priori es.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Managing stakeholders across the business, communicating, se ng expectations, driving common understanding and

addressing contention.

Solutioning:

  • Translate business needs into clear functional and non-functional specifications.
  • Collaborate with UIUX and developers to design op mal solutions
  • Ensure proposed solutions meet business objectives
  • Validate solution designs against requirements and business needs and ensure business buy-in.

Development, QA & Cutover Support:

  • Support technical solutioning by representing user requirements during the design and refinement processes.
  • Support developers and QA’s during implementation, providing guidance on requirements and facilitating discussions

with business stakeholders as required.

  • Assist with preparation of material and providing training and assistance to end-users following implementation.

Provide guidance during cutover post-implementation support to ensure smooth transition.

 

Best Practice Contribution:

  • Producing documentation as defined by the Business Analysis Chapter supporting the application lifecycle management

process.

  • Continual improvement of the business analysis team discipline employing best practice and standards as a Business

Analysis Chapter.

Mandatory Skills:

  • Adaptability and resilience in dynamic environments.
  • Strong collaboration and team orientation.
  • Continuous learning mindset and proactive problem-solving.
  • Excellent facilitation and negotiation skills
  • Ability to bridge business and technical teams, ensuring shared understanding
  • Strong written and verbal communication for clear documentation and reporting
  • Deep understanding of Agile principles and ceremonies
  • Familiarity with Agile tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Strong capability in eliciting, analysing, and priori sing requirements.
  • Skilled in breaking down epics into user stories and maintaining traceability.
  • English as a first language (proficiency test if not).
  • Ability to work autonomously

  • Able to work in Sydney based hours.

  • Successful specification of initiatives and change to the business.

Key Attributes:

  • 5 years+ experience as a BA.
  • Undergraduate degree in business or IT.
