Our data collection department (Process Automation and Data Analytics Department) is offering a targeted 3- to 6-month internship opportunity designed specifically for students like you — those who have completed all core academic modules, are on track to graduate, and are seeking a seamless transition from academia to full-time employment.

This is not just an internship. It is a direct pipeline to a full-time role as a Junior Data Operations Specialist upon successful completion and graduation — provided you demonstrate the aptitude, work ethic, and precision our team demands.

About the Role: What You Will Do

As an Intern in our Data Collection Department, you will be embedded in the core operational workflow of our market data services. You will work directly with live financial data from companies listed on Bursa Malaysia, Singapore Exchange and other regional markets, contributing to the accuracy, timeliness, and reliability of the financial information our corporate clients and subscribers rely on daily.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Reviewing and extracting critical financial data from company announcements, annual reports, and disclosures.
• Inputting, validating, and updating financial metrics (e.g., revenue, EPS, dividends) into our proprietary data portal with strict adherence to standardized operating procedures.
• Identifying and applying corporate actions (e.g., stock splits, rights issues, mergers) to adjust historical financial data accurately.
• Performing quality checks on peer outputs to ensure data integrity and consistency.
• Assisting in the research and documentation of ad-hoc data requirements related to financial fundamentals or market events.
• Supporting internal and external client queries regarding displayed financial information.
• Occasionally supporting weekend operations with prior notice.

1. Master the interpretation of financial statements – You will confidently read, analyse, and extract key figures from balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements across diverse company formats and accounting standards.
2. Develop precision in data handling – You will internalize the critical importance of data accuracy, timeliness, and auditability in the financial data industry — where a single decimal error can impact investment decisions.
3. Gain hands-on Excel proficiency – You will use advanced Excel functions (VLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, pivot tables, data validation, Power Query) daily. Exposure to Excel macros or VBA will be provided if you have foundational programming interest.
4. Exposure to automation and emerging tools (for motivated learners) - Demonstrating initiative and proficiency in core tasks may provide opportunities to observe or assist in automating repetitive data processes using tools such as Python scripts or AI-assisted workflows. While not a formal training component, this exposure is available to interns who show curiosity, aptitude, and a strong work ethic.
5. Understand the value chain of market data – You will see how raw, publicly available information is transformed into structured, curated, and chargeable financial intelligence products.
6. Experience real-world corporate workflows – You will operate within a structured, deadline-driven environment with peer reviews, quality controls, and clear performance metrics — mirroring the expectations of a full-time role.
7. Build professional communication skills – You will learn to document processes clearly, communicate data issues effectively, and collaborate respectfully within a team.

Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking final-year undergraduates (in their last term) with:

• A degree in Finance, Accountancy, Economics, Business, or a closely related finance discipline.
• Completed all required academic modules for graduation (no pending coursework).
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial terminology (e.g., revenue, net income, equity, depreciation, EPS).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel — you must be comfortable navigating large datasets, using formulas, and managing multiple sheets.
• A strong sense of accuracy, discipline, and attention to detail — this role demands zero tolerance for sloppiness.
• Strong written and oral English skills — you will document processes and communicate with team members and clients.
• A hard-working, proactive, and team-oriented attitude — you must be willing to learn, ask questions, and take ownership of your tasks.
• Interest in equities, investing, or financial markets is a strong plus, but not mandatory.

Logistics

• Duration: 3 to 6 months (flexible to align with your academic calendar), preferably to start in the month of March / April 2026.
• Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (with occasional weekend work — compensated with time-off and/or off-in-lieu).
• Compensation: A monthly allowance is provided.
