Job Description

 Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Finance Manager with a strong background in retail and e-commerce finance to oversee financial planning, reporting, operation andcompliance. This role is crucial in managing financial operations, and supporting business expansion. The ideal candidate will have deep industry knowledge, strong alytical skills, and the ability to develop financial structures that support a fast-paced retail and e-commerce environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Develop financial strategies, budgets, and forecasts to support retail and e-commerce growth.
  • Monitor key financial metrics such as sales performance, profit margins.
  • Provide support to financial analysis and provide insights to support business decisions.
  • Review operating expenses and cost of goods sold (COGS) to identify opportunities for cost control and optimization.
  • Assess gross and net profit margins to evaluate overall business profitability.

Financial Management & Accounting Operations

  • Oversee and manage the full set of accounts for Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong entities, ensuring compliance with local financial regulations and tax requirements.
  • Oversee daily operations and address escalated issues on Accounts Payable processing, Accounts Receivable matters and banking transactions and reconcialiations. 
  • Oversee and ensure timely completion of financial statements, management reports, and statutory filings.
  • Ability to lead the annual stocktake process, work closely with related departments to ensure the accuracy of stock quantities.
  • Monitor cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting to optimize financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Oversee and review petty cash payment, staff claims payment and cash advance payment processing

Consolidation

  • Consolidate financial data across multiple entities and business segments to ensure accurate group reporting.
  • Perform intercompany eliminations and adjustments to reconcile balances.
  • Analyze consolidated financial performance to identify trends and provide strategic insights to leadership.
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements..

Compliance & Taxation

  • Liaise with auditors, tax authorities, and external stakeholders for audits and financial reviews.
  • Address audit issues and adjustment proposed by external auditor to finalise statutory accounts.

Operational Efficiency & Process Improvement

  • Streamline financial processes and reporting systems for greater efficiency.
  • Implement best practices and automation tools to improve accuracy and productivity.

Business Expansion & Financial Process Development

  • Design and implement financial templates, workflows, and reconciliation processes to support new business models

Job Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA, ACCA, or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the retail or e-commerce industry.

Technical Skills

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formula creation, pivot tables, and financial modeling.
  • Experience with accounting software such as SQL and QuickBooks.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations and tax laws in Malaysia, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Leadership skills to mentor and guide junior team members.
