As Senior Accountant you will build robust month-end routines, design practical controls, and scale reporting so leaders can make confident decisions. This role is hands-on and focused on making our accounting processes dependable as we grow.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Controls

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with Malaysian reporting standards and internal timelines.
• Manage month-end close activities, reconciliations, journal postings, and ledger maintenance to ensure clean books.
• Design and maintain internal controls and accounting policies to reduce errors and improve audit readiness.
• Produce management reports and clear variance analysis to explain performance to the leadership team.

Operations & Cash Management

• Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely supplier payments and accurate customer billing.
• Run bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow projections to support short-term working capital needs.
• Coordinate payroll processing and month-end payroll accruals in collaboration with HR or payroll vendors.
• Handle petty cash, expense claims, and intercompany postings with disciplined record keeping.

Compliance, Tax & Audit

• Manage statutory filings, SST calculations, and tax submissions, working with tax agents when needed.
• Prepare schedules and documentation for external audits and respond to auditor queries promptly.
• Support ad hoc finance projects such as system migrations, chart of accounts updates, and process improvements.
• Liaise with banks, auditors, and government agencies for compliance matters and financial confirmations.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent and about 5 years of progressive accounting experience in an SME or retail/lifestyle setting.
• Professional qualification such as ACCA, MIA or equivalent is preferred but not mandatory.
• Proven experience preparing statutory financial statements and working with auditors for year-end close.
• Experience supporting payroll and basic HR-related accounting matters is preferred.

Hard Skills & Knowledge

• Strong month-end close skills including reconciliations, journals, and ledger control.
• Practical knowledge of Malaysian tax basics including SST and statutory filing requirements.
• Hands-on experience with accounting software such as MYOB, Xero, QuickBooks or similar, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Familiarity with payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable workflows, and bank reconciliation tools.

Soft Skills & Qualities

• Organised and detail oriented with the ability to prioritise tasks under month-end pressure.
• Clear communicator who can explain numbers to non-finance colleagues in a friendly way.
• Reliable team player who can support junior staff and work across operations and HR.
