The Sunway Scholarship is now open to all Malaysian citizens who wish to pursue their tertiary education at Sunway Education Group Institutions, Malaysian public institutions, as well as other endorsed international universities*.

There are 4 types of scholarships awarded:

• Certificate
• Diploma
• Degree
• Degree (Overseas)

Requirements

• Malaysian citizens aged ≤ 25 years old
• Academic status: Certificate, Diploma, Degree with ≥1-year academic year remaining
• Institutions: Malaysian public institutions, Sunway Education Group Institutions, Endorsed Universities*
• Others: Applicant must not be recipients of any other scholarships that entail contractual obligations (service bonds)

Scope of Award

In addition to tuition fees, accommodation and a stipend to cover basic living expenses, candidates will be offered development opportunities such as internships and mentoring, and will be placed in Sunway Group of companies upon completion of their studies (when applicable)

Candidates will be required to maintain results equivalent to Second Class (Upper) every semester.

FAQ

1. Who can apply for the Sunway Scholarship?

- Malaysian citizens

2. Do I need to have been accepted by a college/university to apply?

- Yes, applicants must receive an offer or are enrolled in a local public or Sunway or endorsed college or university on a full-time basis.

3. Will I be bonded with Sunway Group upon graduation?

- Yes, recipients of the Sunway Scholarship will be bonded to Sunway Group.

4. What is the coverage of the Sunway Scholarship?

- The Sunway Scholarship includes the payment of tuition fees, living allowances, and other incidental expenses.

5. How do I apply?

- You may submit your application here throughout the application period.

6. How will I know whether I am shortlisted?

- Shortlisted applicants will be contacted for an interview.

7. Can I appeal if I am not shortlisted?

- Decision made are final and cannot be appealed.

8. I missed the application deadline. Can I submit my application manually?

- Applications received after the deadline will not be taken into consideration.

9. If I do not complete the programme or fail to obtain the education qualification, do I need to repay Sunway Group?

- The scholarship will be discontinued without any requirement for repayment.

10. Can I change my University program midway during the tenure of my studies?

- No, recipient cannot change the University program midway during the tenure of his/her studies.

12. Upon shortlisted as Sunway Scholarship recipient, I am offered other financial aids (scholarship/grant/loan) from other person, organization or company. Am I still allowed to accept this financial aid?

- Applicant must not be recipients of any other scholarships or financial aids.

13. If I am offered / received Merit Scholarships from the University I am studying at, can I accept?

- Applicant must not be recipients of any other scholarships or financial aids.

14. Can I take a bank loan if the scholarship amount is still not enough?

- No, Sunway Scholarship recipients are not allowed to apply bank loan if he/she has received scholarship from Sunway.

15. What do I have to do to ensure that the scholarship is not void?

- Sunway Scholarship recipients will be required to maintain results equivalent to Second Class (Upper) every semester.

16. What information do I have to provide to Sunway once I start my University program?

- Scholarship recipients are expected to provide his/her correspondence address, handphone number, bank account number and address, semester time-table and exam dates to Sunway.

17. What information do I have to provide to the University once I start my University program?

- Scholarship recipients are to inform the University that the tuition fees are to be billed to Sunway Services directly.

18. When will Sunway pay the Fees and to whom?

- The Fees will be paid directly to the University details provided by the Scholarship recipients to Sunway.

19. If there is no exam in the semester, do I still receive my subsidized living expenses?

- Scholarship recipients to obtain his/her academic performance report from the University and email to Sunway. Failing which, Sunway will not be able to arrange subsidized living expenses payment.

20. When will Sunway pay the subsidized living?

- The Fees will be paid directly to the University and the subsidized Living Expenses per academic year will be paid into a bank account which details to be provided by the recipient to Sunway in equal proportion of the number of semesters within one academic year.

21. If I fail to achieve results equivalent to Second Class (Upper) for my examination results in any semester, what will happen to my scholarship?

- A reminder email will be sent to the recipient for the 1st time. If the recipient continues to fail to achieve results equivalent to Second Class (Upper) until the 2nd reminder, then Sunway may in its absolute discretion terminate the Scholarship.

22. When do I need to notify Sunway about internship arrangement?

- The recipient shall undergo internship with Sunway Berhad (the Employer), its subsidiaries or related parties as arranged by Sunway Berhad for period as required by the Employer or its subsidiaries. The recipient shall contact the Employer one (1) month prior to the scheduled vacation, term or semester breaks to make arrangements for the said internship.

23. Can I perform internship with other organisations instead of Sunway Group?

- No, the recipient is expected to perform internship with Sunway Berhad, its subsidiaries or related parties as arranged by Sunway Berhad.

24. Can I join student exchange program offered by the University during the tenure of my studies?

- No, the recipient is expected to complete the program in the “School”.

25. Can I take up another program after I graduate instead of starting to serve my bond with Sunway Group?

- No, the recipient is expected to serve his/her bond with Sunway Berhad, its subsidiaries or related parties as arranged by Sunway Berhad upon completion of his/her program.
