ABOUT SWIPEY

Swipey is a B2B spend management platform built for Malaysian businesses. We help companies control, automate, and track company spending — and we run our own finance ops the same way: lean, automated, and always improving.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a hands-on finance operations role — not reporting, not FP&A. You will own the daily cash cycle, reconciliations, customer invoicing, tax compliance, and financial reporting. You'll also be expected to spot broken processes and fix them, including with AI tools. If you thrive in ambiguity, take pride in clean books, and get frustrated by manual work that could be automated, this is your role.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

  • Daily cash movement reconciliation — own it end-to-end, every day
  • Virtual account balance accuracy for each customer — completeness is non-negotiable
  • Customer invoicing and collections management
  • Monthly bank reconciliation, cash flow forecasting, and balance sheet schedules
  • Indirect tax (SST) and corporate tax matters — timely, accurate, no surprises
  • Timely financial reports, statements, and forecasts for internal and external stakeholders
  • SOPs — write them, review them, enforce them, and improve them when they're not working
  • External relationships: auditors, tax consultants, banks — you are the point of contact
  • Identifying manual, repetitive workflows and eliminating them using AI tools, automation, or smarter process design


Job Requirements

Qualifications & experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, and/or professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, ICAEW, MICPA)
  • 3–5 years in finance operations — AP/AR, reconciliations, GL, month-end close. A controllership or audit background is a strong plus
  • Solid grasp of Malaysian statutory requirements: SST, withholding tax, financial reporting standards
  • Hands-on experience with cloud accounting systems — Xero, QuickBooks, or equivalent
  • Strong Excel skills; comfort working with data across multiple systems
  • Fluent in English and Malay — written and spoken

Mindset & approach:

  • You've already used AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot) to get real work done faster — not just experimented once
  • Manual reconciliations frustrate you because you know there's a better way
  • You set your own priorities, raise issues proactively, and don't wait to be told what needs fixing
  • You've worked in a startup or lean team and know what it actually means to be hands-on
  • You treat accuracy as a personal standard, not a job requirement

  • You're looking for a well-defined, steady-state role with clear scope and no ambiguity
  • You prefer to wait for direction rather than identify and solve problems independently
  • Using AI tools or improving a process beyond your job description feels out of scope
  • You've only done financial reporting or FP&A and haven't worked in the engine room of finance operations
