JOB DESCRIPTION

 

The PYP coordinator will work closely with teams to support their PYP curriculum planning and collaboration. Alongside the Primary Leadership team they will act as a pedagogical leader in the Primary School. The position holder will attend planning meetings for selected year groups to facilitate the planning and development of the PYP, and its implementation. They will facilitate collaboration between year group teams and other curriculum leaders in the Primary School such as the Language Arts LAL, Maths LAL and Digital Coach. The PYP Coordinator will support defining the school culture based on the IB learner profile. They will facilitate inquiry, promote international mindedness and provide guidance and support to staff to implement the programme.

 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Support the requirements of the IB concerning the implementation of the programme.
  • Ensure PYP teaching staff receive on-going training in the delivery of the programme.
  • Support the process of developing or reviewing the school’s curriculum documents, including the programme of inquiry and scope and sequence documents.
  • Support the development of the PDPs (Programme Development Plan) and support the formulation of the school’s strategic development plan.
  • Support the preparation and submission of any documentation required for evaluation.
  • Set up systems for communication and collaboration among all staff members involved in implementing the programme.
  • Support the sharing of IB PYP communication for the wider school community and external stakeholders
  • Promote the use of ‘MyIB’ within the school community.
  • Involvement in whole school events and activities as required.
  • Teaching across the Primary School to provide release time for Middle Leaders.
  • To perform any other duties as assigned by the management, stakeholders and reporting manager

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

 

  • A degree plus teaching qualification (or equivalent)
  • Higher degree or recognised professional qualification (preferred)
  • Evidence of continued relevant professional development, including significant IB training
  • Experience with teaching PYP (5+ years preferred)
  • Experience in teaching learners with diverse needs, especially EAL
  • Understanding of all PYP publications
  • Practical and theoretical understanding of effective learning and teaching strategies
