Job Requirements

Responsibilities

Routine Service & Maintenance

  • Perform scheduled maintenance tasks such as oil changes, fluid top-ups, filter replacements, and basic tune-ups following workshop checklists.
  • Inspect brakes, tyres, lights, and basic suspension items and report any issues with recommended actions.
  • Record service details accurately in job cards and update supervisors on any parts or follow-up needs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of your work bay to keep tools and consumables ready for the next job.

Diagnostics & Repairs

  • Use basic diagnostic tools and multimeters to identify common faults in engine, electrical, and charging systems.
  • Support senior technicians on component replacements and simple mechanical repairs under supervision.
  • Perform test drives and functional checks to verify repair outcomes before handing vehicles back to customers.
  • Log fault codes and follow escalation steps when issues require advanced diagnostics.

Customer & Workshop Support

  • Communicate service findings clearly to customers and recommend reasonable next steps when needed.
  • Assist with part ordering, stock checks, and receiving deliveries to keep repairs moving.
  • Follow workshop safety procedures and participate in team briefings to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Support lane coordination so jobs are completed on time and the customer experience is consistent.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum SPM or equivalent vocational certificate in automotive or related field, or comparable hands-on experience.
  • Approximately 2 years of practical experience in an automotive workshop or service centre.
  • Basic experience with light vehicle maintenance across petrol and diesel engines is preferred.
  • Valid driving licence is preferred but not mandatory unless required for test drives.

Hard Skills & Knowledge

  • Competence with routine service tasks including oil changes, brake checks, tyre rotation, and fluid inspections.
  • Familiarity with basic diagnostic tools, multimeter use, and reading simple fault codes.
  • Knowledge of workshop safety, correct use of lifts, jacks, and common hand tools.
  • Ability to complete accurate job cards and follow standard operating procedures in vehicle servicing.

Soft Skills & Qualities

  • Good communication skills to explain technical findings to customers and colleagues in clear terms.
  • Willingness to learn and accept coaching from senior technicians and supervisors.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to manage time across multiple short jobs in a busy lane.
