As a builder on our team you will raise our detailing standards and help scale services across shifts and locations. You will shape processes, mentor newer detailers, and introduce techniques that keep our workshop efficient and our customers returning.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities

Detailing & Surface Care

• Perform thorough exterior washing, clay bar decontamination, multi-stage polishing, and final finishing to deliver a consistent showroom look.
• Deep-clean interiors including steam cleaning, shampooing carpets, treating leather, and restoring plastic trims.
• Inspect surfaces under proper lighting and correct defects such as swirl marks, light scratches, and etching.
• Maintain accurate before-and-after records and handover notes for each vehicle.

Protection Systems & Technical Work

• Apply protective systems such as ceramic coatings and paint protection films with attention to surface prep and curing procedures.
• Operate polishers and orbital machines safely, selecting pads and compounds to match paint type and defect level.
• Monitor and document coating cure times and post-application checks to ensure longevity of protection.
• Recommend appropriate protection packages to service advisors based on vehicle condition.

Operations & Team Development

• Train and guide junior detailers on standard operating procedures, safety, and chemical handling to maintain quality across shifts.
• Help manage workflow on busy days by prioritising vehicles and coordinating with service advisors to meet delivery times.
• Keep workshop tools, buffing pads, and chemical inventories organised and report stock needs to supervisors.
• Contribute to simple process improvements that reduce rework and improve turnaround times.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• At least 2 years of hands-on experience in auto detailing or a related technical role at a workshop or detailing centre.
• Proven experience applying ceramic coatings or paint protection films is preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience supervising or mentoring less experienced detailers is an advantage.
• Willingness to work full-time shifts and occasional weekends to meet customer schedules.

Hard Skills & Knowledge

• Strong paint correction skills, including compounding and polishing workflows for different paint types.
• Knowledge of surface prep, decontamination methods, and correct application of coating products.
• Comfortable using polishing machines, inspection lights, torque tools for trim work, and basic measurement tools.
• Understanding of safe handling and storage of detailing chemicals and personal protective equipment.

Soft Skills & Qualities

• High attention to detail with an ability to spot and prioritise defects that affect customer satisfaction.
• Good communication skills to explain service options to colleagues and follow instructions from supervisors.
• Reliable time management and the ability to balance quality with workshop throughput targets.
• Positive, coachable attitude and a willingness to learn new products and methods.
