Role purpose

As a Senior Technician you will build a more consistent, efficient workshop from the ground up. You will create repeatable repair standards, scale diagnostic routines, and help our bays deliver faster, more accurate service while keeping quality high.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities

Vehicle Diagnostics & Repair

• Perform thorough fault diagnosis using scan tools, multimeters, and visual inspection to identify mechanical and electrical issues.
• Carry out repairs and component replacements, following manufacturer procedures and service manuals.
• Test repaired systems and perform road tests to confirm issues are resolved before handover.
• Document findings and parts used clearly in the workshop management system for traceability.

Workshop Operations & Leadership

• Supervise daily bay workflow to meet scheduled service targets and reduce idle time.
• Coach and train junior technicians on tasks, safety, and proper tool use to lift overall team capability.
• Coordinate with parts and service advisors to ensure timely parts availability and accurate job cards.
• Contribute to shift handovers and small operational improvements that increase throughput.

Quality, Safety & Customer Care

• Ensure every vehicle meets quality checks and that safety procedures are followed in the workshop at all times.
• Explain technical issues to customers and service advisors in clear, non-technical language when required.
• Follow warranty and service documentation processes to protect both customers and the company.
• Report recurring faults and suggest preventive actions to reduce customer repeat visits.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as an automotive technician in a workshop or service centre environment.
• Certificate, Diploma, or equivalent in Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Valid Malaysian driving licence and experience handling light passenger vehicles and common local fleets.
• Prior experience supervising or mentoring junior technicians is highly desirable.

Hard Skills & Knowledge

• Proven ability with vehicle diagnostics, engine, transmission, braking, and steering systems.
• Comfortable using OBD scan tools, multimeters, wiring diagrams, and workshop management software.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance schedules, service intervals, and parts identification.
• Familiarity with workshop safety standards, tool calibration, and basic collision avoidance checks.
