Job Requirements

Responsibilities

Diagnostics & Repair

• Perform systematic vehicle inspections and use OBD-II and other diagnostic tools to identify faults quickly.
• Repair engines, transmissions, electrical systems, brakes, and suspension components to factory or workshop standards.
• Service air conditioning systems and perform routine maintenance such as oil, filter, and belt replacements.
• Record work performed and recommend parts or follow-up repairs with clear notes for service advisors.

Workshop Operations & Quality

• Manage job priorities on the bay to meet agreed turnaround times and reduce rework.
• Maintain workshop tools, calibration of equipment, and tidy workspaces to meet safety standards.
• Conduct quality checks before vehicle handover and address any customer concerns promptly.
• Help maintain parts inventory accuracy by flagging low stock or faulty items.

Coaching & Collaboration

• Guide and train junior technicians on routine repairs and diagnostic techniques.
• Share best practices with service advisors to improve job estimates and customer communication.
• Participate in short debriefs to capture lessons from complex repairs and improve team knowledge.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce repeat visits and improve customer satisfaction.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience as an automotive technician or similar workshop role.
• Formal qualification in automotive repair, mechanical engineering, or a recognised trade certificate preferred.
• Proven experience working on a range of passenger vehicles and managing complex repairs end to end.
• Valid driver licence and ability to test drive vehicles as part of diagnostics where required.

Hard Skills & Knowledge

• Strong competence with OBD-II diagnostics and multimeter use for electrical troubleshooting.
• Skilled in engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and AC system repairs and servicing.
• Familiarity with workshop management systems for logging jobs and parts usage.
• Knowledge of workshop safety practices, lifting equipment, and basic fabrication or welding.

• Clear communicator who can explain technical issues to customers and colleagues simply.
