Responsibilities
Shared Service Operations
- Develop and lead the long-term vision for the finance shared service department, which includes analyzing cost structure, service consistency, and process optimization aimed to provide excellent finance services across UEM Edgenta.
- Proactively work with other finance functions to convert strategy, policy, tools, and processes into service operations and support the implementation of finance solutions reflecting Edgenta-specific needs and aligning to the finance operating model.
- Establish and lead a technology-driven finance shared services department in managing day-to-day activities to support the business by partnering with the COE and business controllers at business divisions.
Service Delivery & Quality
- Manages autonomously the complete service delivery for accounting including its main processes (Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, and Fixed Assets) across business units as well as across legal entities within Malaysia in line with the Company’s strategy and business requirements.
- Lead and drive high quality and efficient delivery of all accounting services across Business Units, and across legal entities within Malaysia thereby enabling UEM Edgenta to achieve its Business Goals as well as assure quality requirements that are defined within service level agreements (SLAs).
- Develop and implement service level agreements (SLAs) metrics, and propose recommendations for changes, to meet goals and objectives; ensure monitoring, tracking, and reporting on SLAs metrics; oversee and monitor departmental budget to ensure proper budget performance and alignment to SLAs metrics.
Operational Effectiveness & Efficiency
- Plan and manage the budget of the finance shared service department within the framework set by UEM Edgenta to enhance and sustain operational effectiveness and efficiency.
- Develop, implement, and review finance shared service processes to monitor and reduce error rate; maximise the automation to increase operational efficiency. Leverage feedback and data-driven insights, and partner with COEs to continuously improve processes to ensure seamless finance services can be provided across UEM Edgenta.
- Assist the Chief Financial Officer in the management and delivery of appropriate projects that support the continuous development and improvement of the finance shared service; proactively identify service delivery issues and take appropriate actions to ensure quality service delivery to internal customers.
Governance
- Work closely with COE to ensure governance of MFRS accounting policies, procedures, and processes including enabling technologies as set by UEM Edgenta to provide effective guidance on finance management and safeguard the company’s interests.
Regulatory & Legal Requirements
- Manage compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements such as company law, financial and tax regulations, and policies to maintain the Company’s reputation as a good corporate citizen and safeguard the company’s interests.
Best Practices & Standards Management
- Develop and drive the use of best practice organizational models, processes, and procedures as well as standards within accounting including monitoring implementation and output to achieve best-in-class performance.
Stakeholder Relations
- Develop relationships with key stakeholders throughout UEM Edgenta to understand the business and create appropriate solutions. Drive day-to-day management of third-party vendors to ensure best-in-class service delivery across UEM Edgenta.
- Liaise regularly with business controllers and other finance functions to gather stakeholder feedback and identify other areas of need or improvement.
People Management & Development
- Lead in the management and development of talent in the finance shared service department that will have a distinctive mindset, behavior, and culture to achieve high work performance and contribute to organizational excellence. Lead, manage, and develop a high-performing team to support internal customers and service delivery quality.
- Lead the development of staff to enhance internalization of the right leadership and staff capabilities and in achieving high-performance delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration or related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years in the finance/ accounting field with leadership experience.
- Experience in leading an international, complex matrix organization or unit.
- Very good professional understanding of overall accounting processes and technical solutions.
- Well-versed in accounting and technical processes.
- Experience in managing finance shared service center in a mid/large-sized organization.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience in ERP/ accounting systems with preference to Oracle system.
