Job Summary:
The Site Engineer is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all site engineering activities for the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project, ensuring works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project schedule. The role involves close coordination with subcontractors, consultants, and authorities to ensure smooth project execution from civil works through to electrical installation and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily site activities including civil, structural, electrical, and BESS system installation works.
- Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and work programme.
- Coordinate with design/engineering team on technical clarifications, drawing discrepancies, and site issues.
- Monitor project progress against schedule and report weekly progress updates to Project Manager.
- Liaise with subcontractors to ensure timely execution of works, especially for equipment delivery, installation, and testing.
- Assist in inspection and testing activities including FAT, SAT, pre-commissioning, and commissioning.
- Ensure compliance with TNB, Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST), and client requirements.
- Coordinate site inspections with consultants, clients, and authorities.
- Prepare and maintain site records including daily reports, material tracking, and progress documentation.
- Support procurement and logistics planning for timely material delivery.
- Ensure proper implementation of quality control (QA/QC) procedures and inspection checklists.
- Work closely with Safety & Health Officer to ensure safe execution of site activities.
- Assist in resolving site technical issues and propose practical engineering solutions.
- Ensure proper as-built documentation and handover preparation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering / Civil Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in construction or infrastructure projects (experience in power, substation, or solar projects is an advantage)
- Knowledge of high-voltage systems, transformers, and grid interconnection works is preferred
- Familiar with TNB, ST, and utility project requirements
- Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Project, and Microsoft Office
Good understanding of QA/QC processes and site coordination
