Senior Data Protection Expert

Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking an experienced Data Protection professional with expertise in information protection and AI security. The successful candidate will partner with business and technology stakeholders to implement effective security controls, safeguard critical information assets, and support secure digital transformation initiatives across the organisation. This is an individual contributor role with no people management responsibilities.

What you will work on

• Implement and enhance information protection and data security controls.
• Develop and maintain information classification, protection, and secure handling practices.
• Reduce the risk of sensitive information loss, misuse, or unauthorized disclosure.
• Support the secure adoption and governance of AI technologies.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance for projects and strategic initiatives.
• Translate risk, privacy, regulatory, and business requirements into effective security solutions.
• Support the analysis and investigation of information protection incidents.
• Contribute to security standards, policies, governance frameworks, and strategic roadmaps.

Qualifications you have for this role

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in information protection, data security, data governance, privacy, cybersecurity, or information management.
• Proven experience implementing data protection and governance controls within an enterprise environment.
• Good understanding of information classification, data loss prevention (DLP), encryption, rights management, insider risk, and information lifecycle management.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A structured, risk-based, and business-oriented approach to problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud-based productivity and collaboration platforms.
• Exposure to AI security, secure AI adoption, or AI governance initiatives.
• Experience working in a global or complex organisational environment.
• Knowledge of privacy, security, and information governance frameworks and requirements.
• Relevant certifications in security, privacy, governance, or cloud technologies are an advantage.
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with the Microsoft technology ecosystem.
