Job Description
Position Responsibilities
- Design and implementation of RESTful and event-driven APIs consumed by mobile and web clients
- End-to-end service ownership: from requirements through deployment and production health
- API contracts and versioning — ensuring consumers can depend on what you build
- Data modelling and schema design across relational and caching layers
- Integration with third-party services (payment gateways, notification platforms, logistics providers)
- Performance and reliability of the services you own: latency, error rates, and scalability under load
- Code review participation and contribution to backend engineering standards
Job Requirements
Qualification and Experience
- 4–7+ years of backend engineering experience with Node.js as your primary runtime
- Strong proficiency in Node.js with production-grade TypeScript experience
- Solid experience with a Node.js framework (NestJS or Express) in a product environment
- Strong understanding of RESTful API design, versioning, and documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger)
- Hands-on experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL) and caching layers (Redis)
- Experience with message queuing or event-driven systems (RabbitMQ, Kafka, or equivalent)
- Practical experience with containerisation and deployment (Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud-managed services)
- Working knowledge of observability practices: structured logging, metrics, and alerting
