Job Description
Position Responsibilities
Database Operations & Administration
- Manage and maintain production databases across multiple regions
- Perform installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades of database systems
- Monitor database health, performance, and availability
- Manage database backups and recovery procedure
High Availability & Disaster Recovery
- Design and maintain high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions
- Implement replication strategies across regions
- Ensure data integrity and minimal downtime
- Regularly test backup restoration and DR failover procedures
Performance Optimization
- Monitor database performance and resolve bottlenecks
- Optimize queries, indexes, and database configurations
- Work with developers to improve database schema design and query efffficiency
- Implement caching or scaling strategies when necessary
Cloud Database Management
- Manage databases deployed on cloud infrastructure
- Support cloud database services such as: Amazon RDS / Aurora, Self-hosted databases on cloud infrastructure
- Optimize cloud database usage for perfoformance and cost efffficiency
Security & Compliance
- Implement database access control policies
- Manage encryption, credentials, and database security practices
- Ensure compliance with data protection and governance policies
- Perform security audits and vulnerability assessments
Monitoring & Automation
- Implement monitoring tools for proactive issue detection
- Build automation scripts for routine database operations
- Improve operational efficiency through Infrastructure as Code and automation
Cross-Regional Coordination
- Support regional teams with database deployment and operations
- Ensure consistent database standards across regions
- Collaborate with SRE, DevOps, and data engineering teams
Job Requirements
Qualification and Experience
Experience
- 4+ years experience as a Database Administrator in production environments
- Experience managing high availability databases
- Experience supporting mission-critical applications
Database Technologies
Strong experience with one or more of:
- MySQL / MariaDB
- PostgreSQL
- Microsoft ft SQL Server
- MongoDB (optional but beneficial)
Cloud Platforms
Experience with:
- AWS (RDS, Aurora, EC2-hosted databases)
- Cloud infrastructure management
- Backup and DR solutions in cloud environments
Technical Skills
- Database performance tuning
- Query optimization
- Replication and clustering
- Backup and recovery strategies
- Database monitoring tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing multi-region database clusters
- Experience with large-scale distributed systems
- Experience with database sharding or partitioning
