Shopee is a Singaporean multinational technology company specializing in e-commerce, operating primarily in Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and Latin America. Founded in 2015, it has become the largest e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia, with a gross merchandise volume of $47.9 billion as of 2023. Shopee offers a mobile-focused marketplace that integrates logistical and payment support to facilitate transactions, operating with minimal physical assets. The platform also provides an escrow service called Shopee Guarantee, which withholds payments from sellers until buyers confirm receipt of their orders, ensuring secure transactions.
