As a Technical Architect, you will be responsible for designing and implementing technical solutions to meet business requirements in the payments domain. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of payment systems and provide expert guidance on technology trends and best practices.
Main duties and responsibilities
Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
Be the expert to construct total solutioning proposal includes USP (Unique Selling Point), high level scope of both functional and technical requirements, including data and security blueprint
Design and deliver complex cross-domain solutions encompassing a rich variety of technologies and using a mixture of agile and planned methods to provide innovative solutions to address business’ needs
Work with internal technical teams, development teams, business users, and vendors to manage and deliver successful solutions during implementation stage
Participate in or to drive deep architectural discussions to build trust and rapport with stakeholders during implementation stage
Be a trusted technical advisor to business and project members to solve complex technical challenges, and establish credibility & build deep relationships with senior technical individuals within organization
Articulates desired future state, understand the current state, identify gaps between the two states, and develop approaches to close these gaps.
Providing technology guidance for development and infrastructure teams.
Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies related to payments.
Conduct research and feasibility studies to support innovation initiatives within the organization.
Reporting and collaboration
The holder of the position reports to Senior Technical Architect for Payment services in Global Blue.
The holder of the position collaborates with the fellow Technical Architect, Solution Consultant, Technical Pre-Sales team, Business Development team, Software Engineering team, IT Operations and Regional Commercial organizations
Key competencies
The ideal candidate should possess strong technical knowledge in software architecture, have breadth across technology stacks with deep hands-on skills, and passionate about working with internal/external customers to help build applications at scale.
5+ years design & implementation experience on complex, large scale distributed applications
Systems design experience, with the ability to architect or explain complex systems interactions including data flows, common interfaces, APIs and other methods.
Broad architecture skills, covering application, infrastructure, data, and integration
Sound understanding and experience of contemporary paradigms, such as Cloud, DevOps and Agile Development.
Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.
Working knowledge in Card Payment Transaction Processing is a must.
Past working experience in implementing integrated payment solutions in Hospitality and Retail segment is a major advantage.
Past working experience in international/multicultural environment is an added advantage.
Preferable skills and competencies
Experience in writing software in one or more languages, such as Java, C#, JavaScript, Python
Microservices, Event Driven, or other Cloud Native experience
Working knowledge of container technologies (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker), services, and API models (e.g. Swagger, OpenAPI)
Hands-on experience with different storage solutions (e.g. SQL database, NoSQL such as MongoDB, Hadoop, Redis, etc.)
Experience with scalable networking technologies (e.g. Load Balancers, Firewalls) and web standards (e.g. REST APIs, web security mechanisms)
Skill in analysis and interpretation of large, complex IT/technology products and services
Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to details
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Possess a "can do" attitude and positive outlook, minimizing negative behaviours
Ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural, multinational environment and mobilize cross-functional high-performance teams
Ability to manage multiple competing priorities under pressure
Fluent in English
Education and qualifications
Computer Science or Engineering degree or relevant work experience
Possession of relevant certifications, such as TOGAF certification, is an added advantage
