The Role

You will be part of the Experience team. The Experience team believes in innovating and pushing the boundaries of experience design. They research, review, iterate and develop meaningful interactions between the client’s product and its intended users. The team is made up of Researchers, Project Managers, Product Managers, UX Designers, UI Designers and Developers.

As the Freelance Senior UI Designer, you will work closely alongside our core team and a financial client to co-create a product that we can all be proud of. Your core focus will be designing a great digital product that our client and users will love. You will be expected to work iteratively from the initial concept, to help improve the product over time based on research, market trends and observed user behaviour.

We would love for someone who can roll up their sleeves and actively participate in all product phases from strategy to launch, through to continuous enhancements. We believe that this is an important aspect of the team culture that we would like to build.

Job Description and Responsibilities

Design thinking

• Proven ability to propose creative concepts during initial project phases and the ability to deliver on those ideas and the ideas of others through detailed design
• Deliver best-in-class visual design solutions
• Familiarity with prototyping tools
• Demonstrated ability to synthesize and present your work
• Up-to-date knowledge of design best practices and emerging technologies
• Establish design systems and libraries that work for the product
• Master-level understanding of graphic design, typography and layout and how it extends through the digital realm and counterpart touchpoints. 

Team player

• Experience working in a highly iterative, collaborative environment where people share work daily 
• Experience leading multiple and multidisciplinary teams through the design process 
• Participate and lead standups fashionably and be an impartial decision maker to team 
• Collect and analyze feedback from product owners, stakeholders and other members to shape design requirements, features and products

The Freelance Senior UI Designer will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Project Managers, and Developers to create digital products that will hopefully reshape local industries.

• A minimum of 3+ years of experience creating interfaces, large scale websites and/or applications
• Experience in designing digital products
• Experience working on end-to-end projects, from discovery to delivery to launch
• A team player with excellent time management skills
• A pragmatic approach to problem-solving; able to articulate and balance trade-offs to keep teams moving forward
• An interest in strategy, design, or development
• Proficient with technology and tools (including Sketch, Invision, Photoshop and Illustrator)
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in high-pressure situations and tight time frames
• A hands-on, can do approach to solving problems
• Good verbal and written communication skills to enhance negotiation and liaison within teams
