Since starting as a private brand of The Seiyu, Ltd. (currently Seiyu GK), MUJI has grown to offer more than 7,000 items, developing and merchandising diverse necessities ranging from clothes to foods to housing. About Muji 

History MUJI products were developed as low-priced, quality goods under the slogan, "Lower priced for a reason." In 1980, based on its experience of in-house product development with its former parent company, Seiyu, Ltd, Ryohin Keikaku launched MUJI as the brand designed with a no-brand concept. The basic concept of its product development was to manufacture really well designed essential items for daily living. Therefore, we focused on the careful selection of material, streamlining manufacturing processes, and simplifying our packaging; such a forward-looking concept has made MUJI products appear fresh and new to people living in this modern era so saturated with excessive, and over-decorated things.
