Job Description

Internship of Civil Engineering (BEng Civil/BSc Construction/BTech Construction)

a) Internship of Civil Engineering shall report to the Assistant Production Manager/Production Manager/QAQC Manager

b) The duties of internship shall be covered in various field are as follows:

1. Quantity Surveying

• Bills of Material (BOM) – Exposure to preparation and reviewing the BOM of projects, detailing the quantities and types of precast components and also estimating the quantity of raw materials required for precast production (concrete, steel reinforcement, welded mesh, cast-in item & etc.).
• Material Consumption Analysis - Assist in analyzing and monitoring the actual material consumption versus approved shop drawings and BOM.
• Production Wallchart Updating – Performing the updating production wallchart ensures that everyone in the factory is aligned with the revised drawings, minimizing errors, delays, and production disruptions.

1. Production & Manufacturing

• Standard Details Guideline & Project Specification – Understand the requirement and compliances of project’s specification for production of precast element.
• Design Support & Drawings Preparation – Learn about reinforcement detailing and connection design according to approved drawings.
• Production Schedule – Acquaintance with Production Engineer to organize, developing plans and effective scheduling of rules for optimum utilization of production capacity.
• Work Progress Preparation & Inspection – Physically exposure to coordinating the production of assigned mould towards completion of reinforcement work prior inspection with consultant.
• Production Recording & Updating – Assist Production Engineer for recording and updating of production.

1. Quality Control & Assurance

• Material Testing – Conduct in-house testing for raw material & concrete (sand, aggregate, slump, cube compression) and preparation of material sampling for accredited lab test.
• Inspection – Understand process and step of inspection needed for precast production and develop an eye for details of defect finding that could affect structural intergrity.
• Documentation – Learn about maintaining required documentation, preparation of repair work’s Method Statements and updating if necessary (ISO, EN206, SCI, NCR, MOS)

1. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Compliance

• Workplace Safety Practices & Monitoring – Understand workplace safety practices in precast production.
• Toolbox & Safety Training – Participate in daily or weekly safety toolbox which could help to understand the potential hazard and the importance of a safety-conscious work environment.

1. Any other tasks which may be assigned by the assigned supervisor from time to time.

Skills & Knowledge to Develop:

• Knowledge of precast concrete production processes.
• Familiarity with industry standards and codes for precast concrete production.
• Understanding of quality process and procedure.
• Awareness in quantity control and quality requirements.
• Experience in safety, health & environment regulation and practise to maintain in precast concrete production.

Job Requirements

•  Diploma / Degree in Civil Engineering or Building Construction
