As part of our vision to be the leading grocery store in our neighbourhoods, you will be responsible to develop and execute the overall strategy for a product category and researching into new product options in the category to drive sales and achieve targets.

Our ideal candidate needs to utilise data and insights to anticipate industry and consumer trends. The ability to communicate, negotiate and build rapport with people is also a key element we seek out for. A team player, the category executive will have to aid in building relationship with key department leads and maintain long term vendor relationship to ensure smooth and successful implementations of strategies. The Category Executive must be analytical to be able to identify opportunities for the growth and profitability.

Being a start-up, you can expect your days to be pretty varied. Multitasking is normal, and sometimes, your skills or natural talents will be leveraged to support other business priorities.

The main objective of the role is to:

• Procure highest quality grocery at a price that meets the needs of both our customers and vendors.
• Develop and implement category strategies to drive sales, profitability, improve product mix and quality and enhance overall customer experience.
• Collaborate with suppliers to secure quality grocery, favourable pricing, product availability, and promotional support.
• Manage multiple categories, including purchasing, ranging, and category management.
• Identify, develop and implement range, layout and opportunities that will maximize sales and customer impact.
• Work closely with retail operations to ensure there is a strong understanding of category plans.
• Build, manage, and maintain supplier relationships.
• Contribute to process improvement efforts.
• Collaborate in team projects and activities across the organization.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

• Buying experience in Food business would be an advantage.
• Experience in retail, business development, marketing, sales or related field.
• Strong Communication and Negotiating Skills.
• High level of interpersonal, relationship management and team-working experience.
• Fluent in English, Malay & Mandarin language.
• Able to start on a short notice be an added advantage.
