About the role
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Senior Software QA Engineer specializing in Test Automation and Performance Testing to take technical ownership of our automated test suites and performance testing across web applications, APIs, and backend services. In this role, you will design and maintain automation frameworks, execute performance tests, and investigate application performance issues while providing technical guidance and support to framework users.
Key Responsibilities
Test Automation
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites using Playwright with Java, Selenium, and relevant supporting tools.
- Maintain and enhance automation frameworks to improve reliability, maintainability, and test coverage.
- Contribute to integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.
- Provide technical guidance and support to other users of the automation framework.
- Identify automation opportunities and recommend improvements to testing practices.
Performance Testing & Engineering
- Define and contribute to performance testing approaches for applications, APIs.
- microservices, and distributed systems.
- Design, implement, and maintain performance test suites using Apache JMeter.
- Execute load, stress, endurance/soak, spike, and scalability testing.
- Monitor application, infrastructure, and system resource metrics during performance test execution.
- Collaborate with Development, DevOps, and Infrastructure teams to investigate and validate performance improvements.
- Promote performance testing best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Support knowledge sharing and technical onboarding for engineers working with the automation framework.
- Communicate testing progress, risks, defects, and technical findings to project teams and stakeholders.
- Work independently to resolve complex testing issues and continuously improve test engineering practices.
What would you need?
- Typically 5–6+ years of software QA experience, with strong hands-on expertise in test automation and performance testing.
- Strong experience developing automated tests using Playwright and/or Selenium.
- Strong Java programming skills and knowledge of automation frameworks and testing best practices.
- Experience with Git, Jenkins pipelines/jobs, and CI/CD integration.
- Advanced hands-on experience with Apache JMeter and performance test analysis.
- Strong understanding of load, stress, endurance/soak, spike, and scalability testing.
- Experience testing REST APIs, microservices, and distributed architectures.
- Ability to monitor system resources, analyse performance bottlenecks, and provide actionable recommendations.
- Ability to work independently, take technical ownership, and guide testing activities without requiring formal people management experience.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
